Lycoris was a little surprised and replied,

You-you did? So she knows now that you know everything? I-I hope that doesn't make her change our location. She is a little paranoid and she doesn't trust you very much so she may do that.

Nerine replied,

Ok, and I'll do the same. Continue to take care of yourself, alright? I love you so much.

Ryan replied,

I don't think she will.  I told her that I knew so that she can trust me.  If I were to betray any of you, I would have said something to Sia by now.  But I won't.  I-I've seen how she can be and I don't have the power yet to persuade her to change her ways.


Alex smiled softly and replied,

I love you, too, darling.  Take care, sleep well, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Lycoris sighed and sadly replied,

I wish she could change her ways. We wouldn't have been hiding things from her now. She caused a lot of pain even if she didn't know it. Even the shapeshifter suffered at her hands.

Nerine replied,

Sleep well, Alex. Take care.

Ryan replied,

Yes, I figured as much.  The two of them were giving each other dirty looks so I can guess that there's been some bad blood between them.  I'll figure out what to do from here but Lycoris, I-I hope I can talk to you again.  I'd like that but only if it's ok with you.


Alex replied,

You, too.  Good night, my darling.


He then shut off the telepathy and waited for Lycoris to finish her conversation with Ryan.

Meanwhile, Eleanor had finished making the tea and soup and she carried them both on a tray upstairs to the shapeshifter's room.

Lycoris blushed slightly but she replied,

It's okay with me. Take-take care of yourself, Ryan.

Lady Penelope opened the door for Eleanor after she arrived, and helped her carry the tray to near the shapeshifter, who looked cleaner after her mother helped her wash up and change. Lady Penelope smiled gratefully and said to Eleanor,

"Thank you very much. I hope it wasn't too much trouble preparing this."

Ryan blushed as well and replied,

You, too, Lycoris.  Rest well and I'll talk to you later.


He then shut off the telepathy and took a breath.  He felt a little hopeful after the conversation with Lycoris.

Eleanor shook her head and smiling, he replied, "Not at all.  I hope this will help but I can certainly prepare more food if your daughter is hungry."

She sighed sadly and added, "I can't believe that the queen would be like this.  I met her some time back and she seemed like a kind gentle person."

Lycoris shut off the telepathy and she too felt slightly better than things weren't so tense with Ryan anymore. She didn't know whether Alex was done talking to Nerine or not so she waited patiently for him to say anything.

The shapeshifter quietly said, "Kind gentle person? She puts up quite the mask."

She slowly sat up to start eating, a frown over her face as there was a lot she needed to think about. Lady Penelope sighed and looking to Eleanor, she said,

"This queen caused us a lot of pain in the past so I am not surprised. I am so happy Anjela is back here with me safe and sound. I thought I lost her for good."

Alex observed Lycoris and as it seemed that her conversation was over, he asked,

"Lycoris, did you talk to Ryan?  I talked to my darling to let her know how things went."

Eleanor nodded and replied, "I am happy to see her back safe as well.  I'll leave you two unless you'd like something else.  There might be some dessert.  I could bring it up."

Lycoris nodded to Alex and replied,

"Ahh yes, I talked to him. Thank goodness, he's alright. He was really acting things out to distract Sia and I am glad it worked out. I-I am happy he decided to help and didn't tell Sia anything."

The shapeshifter replied, "No need for that, thanks. I'll finish up here and get some sleep."

Lady Penelope smiled gratefully to Eleanor and said, "Thanks for all your help. We'll be fine from here. I truly appreciate it."

Alex nodded and replied, "I see.  How are things between you two?  Are they getting better?"

Eleanor nodded and replied, "All right then.  Edward and I will be leaving soon since it's getting late here although we'll be back first thing tomorrow to check up on you two."

Lycoris smiled a little and replied,

"You can say that. I-I was a little surprised he helped you all out but maybe he's finally understanding that this is what I want. I owe him a lot for what he did today."

She paused then asked, "How is the shapeshifter? Was she hurt badly?"

Lady Penelope nodded and replied, "We'll be waiting for you. Thank you very much again, Eleanor and please take care on your way back home."

Alex replied, "She looked pretty weak but I think if she gets some food and rest, she'll recover quickly.  Lady Penelope and Mom are attending to her now."

Eleanor smiled and replied, "We will.  Good night then and I'm happy to see that you're back and safe, sweetie."

She looked kindly at the shapeshifter and then took her leave, heading to the living room to meet with Edward.

Lycoris nodded and replied, "I'm glad to hear that. I was worried about her."

She paused then said, "What are we going to do now? We-we still don't have the names of the elixir's ingredients nor more of it and...and my other self is showing up again. I only calmed down when you returned."

Alex wrapped his arms around Lycoris and replied, "We'll figure it out.  I do have something in mind.  Perhaps Ryan can find out if he asks discreetly?"

Eleanor returned to the living room and taking a seat beside Edward, she said,

"Lady Penelope is with her daughter so it's best that we leave these two to take it easy for the night."

Lycoris was about to respond to Alex when Eleanor returned. She smiled softly and asked,

"Is the shapeshifter feeling a little better? Will she restore her health soon enough?"

Eleanor nodded and replied, "Oh yes, she is.  Lady Penelope is taking care of her now and I made the shapeshifter some soup and tea.  And when Edward and I come over tomorrow, I'll bring a care package for her.  Hopefully, that'll help."

Lycoris nodded and replied,

"Thank you very much, mom. I am sure Lady Penelope and the shapeshifter are quite grateful for your help. I hope they both feel better tomorrow."

Eleanor replied, "Me, too, sweetie."

Edward then said, "We should get going.  It's getting pretty late and we won't want the servants waiting up for us."

Lycoris nodded but she replied,

"You'll come back tomorrow morning, right? I'll be waiting for you."

Eleanor replied, "Of course, sweetie."

She got up and gave Lycoris a warm, motherly hug and said, "We'll come first thing tomorrow."

Edward nodded and added, "We'll want to check up on everything.  I'm just grateful that things went smoothly."

Lycoris returned Eleanor's hug warmly and said,

"I'll be waiting for you tomorrow. Please don't be late, ok? And take care of yourselves on the road back home."

A while later, Lisianthus knocked on the door and entered the room where Ryan was. She had a dark expression over her face, one that indicated that she could explode any moment if agitated. Obviously, she was in a terrible mood.

She entered the room and sat down, not saying a word.

Edward nodded and replied, "We will."

He gave Lycoris a kiss on the forehead and Eleanor said, "We'll see you all tomorrow."

Alex escorted Edward and Eleanor to the front door and watched them leave.  Then he returned to Lycoris' side.

Ryan noticed the look on Lisianthus' face and he could guess what happened.  Quietly, he asked,

"What happened, beautiful?"

After Alex returned, Lycoris said,

"You said something earlier about asking Ryan to tell me the ingredients. Do you think the head healer will agree to tell him? I mean, they wouldn't suspect anything? After all, naturally, Ryan wouldn't be interested in knowing the details about the elixir."

Lisianthus didn't respond right away, but she turned to look at Ryan with the same expression for a few moments before she quietly replied,

"We should have gotten the information we need when we could. Now it's too late. The shapeshifter escaped, Ryan."

Alex replied, "That's where it gets tricky.  The head healer might be a little suspicious as to why Ryan would ask but it might not be so suspicious since it isn't a secret that Ryan cares about you.  I don't know.  What do you think?"

Ryan knew as much but still, he had to pretend to be surprised so that nothing would seem off on his end.  Looking shocked, he replied,

"What?  But how?  The security was tight and everything."

Lycoris looked thoughtful and replied,

"I-I can ask him and see what he thinks. If he agreed to help us free the shapeshifter, he wouldn't refuse to help get more of the elixir. He might have a good idea of how to take care of things on his end."

Lisianthus shook with agitation and anger but doing her best to keep her temper under control, she replied quietly,

"This is the third time. The third time to have a prisoner escape just like that. Lady Penelope, then the chancellor and the shapeshifter in less than a couple of days. What has become of this castle? Everyone can get in and get out just like that?!"
