Alex replied, "Yup, that's true. Well, Bryan, I guess Nerine and I should go get some sleep now."

Bryan nodded and replied, "All right. That's fine. I'll be downstairs for a little while to take care of some other things before I go to sleep myself. But don't you worry, Miss Nerine. You're safe here. You have my word on it."

Nerine bowed to Bryan and replied, "Thank you very much, Bryan. I really appreciate your help for us."

Bryan smiled and bowed in return. Then the maid said, "Please follow me."

That was the cue for Alex to escort Nerine and follow the maid upstairs to their bedroom for the night. Although Alex was quite tired, he observed the house and noticed that it hadn't changed much since the last time he visited. There was the beautiful crystal chandelier in the middle of the ceiling of the grand hallway and the beautiful vases of flowers that Bryan liked to place throughout the house.

He continued following the maid and the maid took the lead, going upstairs to the second story and down a hallway. Suddenly, she stopped in front of the door and opened it.

"Here you are. I prepared the room for your comfort and took the liberty of laying out some nightclothes on the bed for the both of you. There are some fresh clothes in the closet if you wish to change for tomorrow. If there isn't anything else that either of you need, I'll be taking my leave then."

Alex replied, "I'm fine. Thank you, miss. Do you need anything, darling?" Alex turned over to Nerine.

Nerine shook her head and replied, "No, thank you very much, miss."

The maid replied, "All right then. Well, there is a small bell on the nightstand. Please ring it in case you need anything." She then curtseyed to both Alex and Nerine and left.

Alex entered the room and looked around. It was very comfortable indeed. There was a huge king-sized bed with white blankets and pillows on it and there were the nightclothes that the maid had indicated. There was a beautiful nightdress for Nerine and pajamas for Alex. The window had a lovely view of the fields although because it was night, it was difficult to see outside. The closet was off to one side of the wall and there was another door, which led to the bathroom.

Turning to Nerine, Alex said, "Well, this sure does look comfortable. I hope this is ok for you?"

Nerine replied, "It's very beautiful. This room sure looks comfortable."

She sat down on the bed and looked at the nightdress on the bed.

"And this nightdress looks even more beautiful than mine."

Alex smiled and replied, "It warms my heart to see you so happy. Otherwise, I might have had to get on Bryan's case if he didn't treat my darling so well."

Alex chuckled a bit and then continued, "So I suppose we should get changed. Do you want to use the bathroom first?"

He closed the bedroom door to allow them some privacy.

Nerine replied, "You can enter first, dear. I'll wait here."

Alex replied, "All right, darling. I will be finished quickly."

He kissed Nerine on the cheek, took the pajamas, and then entered the bathroom, closing the door behind him. Once he did so, he changed into the pajamas and then washed up his face and combed his hair. Soon he was finished and entered the bedroom where Nerine was waiting.

"Ok, I'm all done. Your turn now."

Nerine took the nightdress in her hands and replied, "Ok then."

She went into the bathroom and washed herself up then changed into her nightdress. Once she was done, she brushed her hair and went back to Alex.

"So, what do you think?"

Alex had put away his clothes in the closet and was waiting for Nerine. Fortunately, he didn't have to wait long, as she soon came back out.

"Wow! You look beautiful but then again, you always do."

He approached Nerine and gave her a short but sweet kiss on the lips.

"So my lady, shall we get some sleep for the night?"

Bryan was downstairs, finishing up some business regarding his concert tour among the other affairs that he had to take care of. While he was doing so, one of his servants entered the room.

"Sir, I just got back from Mr. Carnahan's place but it seems empty now. I guess whoever had intruded upon him and Miss Nerine have left now. I took care to lock up the house to prevent any intruders from entering."

Bryan nodded. "Thank you. You may leave now."

The servant nodded and left the room.

Bryan thought to himself,

Well, at least I can tell Alex that his place is safe now. But I'll tell him tomorrow. He and Miss Nerine must be quite exhausted and I should get some sleep soon.

Nerine nodded and replied, "Yup, but let me put away my clothes first."

She went to the closet and put away her clothes carefully.

"Okay, we can get some sleep now."

Alex nodded and then jumped into one side of the bed, turning over the covers and waiting for Nerine to follow suit. He yawned a bit, indicating how exhausted he was from the happenings of the day.

Nerine laid down next to Alex and held to him gently.

"So, do you want me to sleep holding to you or did you get bored of me already?"

Alex chuckled and replied, "I could never be bored of you, darling."

He leaned in to give her a kiss.

"So do you feel safe now here and in my arms?"

Nerine cuddled close to Alex and replied, "Of course. Being in your arms feels like being in the seventh heaven.

Um, dear, there are two days left for my birthday now, right?"

Nerine looked somewhat worried about something.
