Anjela looked thoughtful and nodding, she said, "It would help if you do. They were pretty useful, yes. They're like casting a sleep spell but quicker and more practical in emergencies."

She paused then furrowing her eyebrows in confusion, she said, "I was well-disguised. I make sure no one is following me once I leave the castle. How could anyone track me down?"

Lisianthus nodded happily and replied, "Yup, it sure was."

Irene said, "If you two shall excuse me, I will take my leave now. I'll be at the academy for the day. Do let me know if there is anything you need of me."

She got up and curtseyed to the couple, before walking away.

Matthew furrowed his eyebrows and replied, "That's a good question.  I know you were really careful.  Is there a way for someone to track down a shapeshifter, know who they are even in disguise?"

After Duchess Irene left, Ryan turned to Lisianthus and said, "May I escort you to your office?  Then I'll head on over to meet Sir Zak and Lady Julia."

Anjela was deep in thought, then she replied, "Not really, but there is a spell that puts a tracker on someone if you wish to follow them. But it requires that you cast it on the person up close. It might be the queen, or rather her human boyfriend, and they cast it on me when we were at his house?"

She furrowed her eyebrows as she thought over the possibility.

Lisianthus nodded happily and said, "It would be my honor, cutie."

She held his arm and happily followed him as he escorted her to her office.

Matthew looked troubled by the thought and replied, "Do you really think one of them would have done that?  And if so, is there a way to remove the tracker?"

He sighed sadly, as he wished he had more magical abilities to help Anjela.

Ryan happily held onto Lisianthus' arm and escorted her inside the castle and then to her office.  Once they arrived outside the office door, he looked at her and said,

"Ok, I should continue with my training this morning but I'll be back here so we can have lunch together."

Anjela frowned a little and replied, 

"Only a person who casts the tracker spell can remove it. So if the queen or her human boyfriend are the ones who did it, only they can remove it. And of course it is them. The wanted signs were probably a way to distract us as though she can't find me."

She groaned and seethed angrily, and gears running in her head, she said, "I have to teach her a lesson for that and force her to remove whatever spell she cast on me."

Lisianthus nodded happily and said, "I'll wait for you, my cutie. See you later."

She leaned in to give a quick loving kiss then entered her office to start the day.

Matthew reached out to touch Anjela's hands and gently replied, "Hey, calm down.  We don't know that for sure.  Did either of them get really close to you when we were at Ryan's place?  Do you remember?"

He didn't think either Lisianthus or Ryan had been physically close enough to Anjela to have placed such a magical tracker on her although he couldn't be sure.

After Lisianthus entered her office, Ryan went on ahead to the room where Sir Zak and Lady Julia were waiting for him.  He looked forward to another morning of chancellor training.

Anjela took a breath then after a moment of thought, she said,

"Ryan was close enough when I and him went to free my mom. He could have placed it then. And let's not forget how powerful he is so he might have cast it without needing to be quite close."

Sir Zak and Lady Julia were both waiting for Ryan inside and as he entered, they stood up and bowed respectfully to him. Sir Zak smiled at him and said,

"Good morning, sir. Are you ready for today's lessons?"

Although Matthew didn't think Ryan would have done such a thing, he didn't wish to argue with Anjela, so he replied,

"I guess it's possible, especially if Sia asked him to do it.  That's the only plausible explanation I can think of."

Ryan bowed politely to Sir Zak and Lady Julia and smiling, he replied, "Yes, sir, I'm ready for today's lesson."

He was attentive and looked forward to what he would learn from them today.

Anjela furrowed her eyebrows and said, "Yes, he wouldn't have done it without her asking him."

She took a few breaths and trying to get up, she angrily said, "I'll teach that woman a lesson not to mess up with me."

Sir Zak and Lady Julia started Ryan's lesson, giving him more information about the chancellor job and revising the information they gave him from the day before.

Matthew gently squeezed Anjela's hands and replied, "It's going to be ok, Anjela.  We'll figure something out."

He paused and then asked, "Anjela, if you have been tracked, why didn't Sia order her soldiers to just capture you?  Couldn't they have done so in broad daylight?  It's not like she'd need secrecy."

Ryan paid close attention as Sir Zak and Lady Julia gave him more instruction and he took down mental notes, making revisions as necessary.  He wanted to pick things up as quickly as he could, so he could officially be able to help Lisianthus soon.

Anjela furrowed her eyebrows and after a moment of thought, she said,

"She might eventually do that if she gives up, but she could be avoiding directly arresting me like that in broad daylight to avoid a direct clash in front of her citizens, when her popularity isn't doing so well lately. Not all people will understand the situation and see me as a criminal."

Matthew replied, "So you think that she doesn't want to make a move like that?  Do you think that despite the wanted posters, the majority of people will ignore them?  Since it's coming from the queen, who isn't popular with her people?"

He looked deep in thought.

Anjela looked thoughtful as well but nodding, she said, "Yes, you can put it like that. The queen isn't exactly popular and people understand that not all those she accuse of being criminals or likewise are guilty, that many could be innocent or misunderstood. Of course, I am sure there are those who will want the reward anyways."

She took a breath and frowning, she said, "I have to confront her. It's about time I made a move anyways."

Sir Zack and Lady Julia continued with Ryan's lesson, and after they finished revising the information they had given him the day before, they started informing him on new things, such as the current situation in the gods' world. Lisianthus' popularity was pretty bad, and most people were unsatisfied with her reign, as were most of the dukes and nobles. Those who supported her were very few, and of the nobles were mostly of her father's close friends who remained true to his memory.

Matthew nodded and replied, "I understand.  How do you plan on confronting Sia?"

Although he had a pretty good guess, he wanted to hear so from Anjela.

Ryan nodded and he looked disturbed as he heard how unpopular Lisianthus was although he had hear snippets of it.  He asked,

"So the chancellor should help the queen gain popularity?"

Anjela was silent for a moment, then replied,

"I'll take her somewhere we can talk on our own. There is something I've been planning for a bit, and it might be time for it. I...I don't think you'd like to hear the details, or have a hand in this. Let me act on my own. It's for the best; she can't know that you are with me."

Sir Zak looked thoughtful and replied, "You can think of it like that. The chancellor is the queen's first advisor and he should help her make the best decision at least. Of course, the final word is the queen's, but he should have a strong influence."

Lady Julia added, "And since he is the main way of communication between the queen and the dukes and her people, he should do his best to justify her actions, convince everyone that it's the best choice made."

Matthew replied, "I can understand that you don't want Sia to know that I'm with you, but you two are just going to talk, right?  You want to confront her about the wrongs she's done to you?"

Ryan nodded and replied, "I understand."

Inside, he realized how difficult a job this would be, especially since Lisianthus' popularity was low at the moment.

Anjela looked at Matthew silently for a moment, and her eyes communicated that she wasn't just going to talk. Then she averted her gaze and replied,

"A little more than talk. I am not going to kill her yet, if that's what you mean."

Sir Zak started showing Ryan some of the major decisions Lisianthus had recently made during the last year of her reign. Some of them were harsher towards the prisoners in the royal dungeons as well as the main prisons, as well as making punishments more severe for those condemned and proved guilty.

Matthew nodded and didn't push the matter further.  Instead, he said, "Be really careful.  Even though Sia might be behind the attacks, we don't know for sure, so we have to prepare for a possible third party."

Ryan furrowed his eyebrows and paid close attention as Sir Zak explained about the problems.  He asked,

"What do the people think about the queen's harsher penalties?"

Anjela nodded and replied, "I will. It's the queen I am dealing with so I will be careful and make sure to get to the bottom of this, find out if it's her or not."

She paused then thoughtful, she said, "I need to target her when she's alone. I don't want to clash with Ryan if possible."

Sir Zak sighed and replied, "They don't like it. Not because they want to be nicer to criminals, but because people believe that not all prisoners or condemned are definitely guilty."

Matthew nodded and replied, "Yes, that's true.  I believe Ryan is a decent guy but when it comes to Sia, he'll put her first.  He'll protect her, no matter what."

Ryan nodded and replied, "I can see their point.  Is there no sort of judicial system here?  The kingdoms in the human world have them, so it's not up to the royals to decide on guilt or innocence or punishment."

Anjela nodded and after a few moments of silent thoughtfulness, she said,

"She's usually alone during the mornings, maybe afternoons. I have been following her schedule for a long time. I also know how to avoid most of the protections and traps at the castle, so taking her away shouldn't be a problem."

Lady Julia nodded and replied, "We do have a judicial system although final punishments must be approved by the queen. Still, people believe that it is not fair enough, investigations aren't through enough and usually, punishments are too harsh for the act committed."

Matthew nodded and replied, "Ok, but please be careful.  I'm certain that the castle must have lots of protections.  But first, you should rest up and recover some more of your strength."

Ryan nodded and replied, "I see.  If changes were made, like having better manpower to handle the investigations and an impartial jury system that wouldn't be up to the royals on the guilt or innocence of the accused, would the people here like that?"

He looked deep in thought, thinking that perhaps he could bring these thoughts up to Lisianthus.

(I know you're probably at work but just in case, I'll be doing some editing this evening since I didn't get much done during the day.  Folke wanted to talk and all and well, you can imagine how that goes sometimes.  lol  XD)

(No problem. I am at work so I'll post only when I can and all. XD)

Anjela nodded and replied, "I'll rest for the morning then try to get going during the afternoon. I need to move quickly, before such a thing happens again."

She laid her head again on Matthew's shoulder and relaxed, feeling a little light-headed after getting worked up.

Sir Zak nodded and looking thoughtful, he said, "Yes, that would impress the people and work towards a more fair judicial system."

Lady Julia said, "But the problem is the queen herself. She is the one who likes to review the judgements and punishments herself."

Matthew wrapped his arms around Anjela and gently replied, "You rest on me as much as you want, my Anjela.  I'll watch over you."

He gently kissed Anjela's forehead.

Ryan turned towards Lady Julia and asked, "Has that always been the case?  I mean, has it always been up to the royals to make the final decisions on judgments and punishments and all that?"

Anjela smiled softly and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath as she let herself relax in Matthew's arms. She quietly said,

"I am putting you in danger and trouble yet again, aren't I? And you take care of me and my health on the top of it."

Lady Julia nodded and replied, "Mostly, yes, but only in name. The royals used to approve whatever the judges recommend without much revision. But Queen Lisianthus is different. She reviews things herself and usually makes changes to make a punishment more severe, or alter a judgement all together."
