Romance RP

Lycoris smiled a bit and shrugging, she said, 

"Not really. Wherever you want to go. Maybe the garden? I mean, if you're ok with that, of course."

Alex smiled softly and replied, "Of course.  The garden sounds wonderful."

He looked to Lady Penelope and said, "Please excuse us.  I hope you have a wonderful day, my lady."

Lady Penelope smiled happily to Alex and nodding, she said, 

"Thanks, darling. Have fun, dears."

She watched them as they left to the garden and inwardly hoped that things would go according to plan. She was quite relieved that Nerine's pregnancy didn't change Alex's mind.

Alex gently touched Lycoris' arm and escorted her outside to the gardens to enjoy the beautiful morning weather.  Once they were outside, he looked to her and asked,

"So, Lycoris, how have you been?"

Lycoris smiled a bit and replied, 

"I've been fine. My health is a lot better than before thanks to Matthew's care and efforts. Umm my other self remains the main problem although she's been quiet for a day now. Other than that, nothing's new, I think."

She paused then continued, "Umm what about you? How have you been? And how is Nerine?"

She wondered if Alex would tell her about Nerine's pregnancy himself or if he would keep quiet about it.

Alex replied, "I'm all right and my darling is better now.  I know you were worried about her yesterday, too."

He paused and then added, "I think you have the right to know this although we've only told Mom and Dad.  But my darling's pregnant.  It took me by surprise; that's for sure."

Lycoris was glad that Alex was honest with her and told her the news himself. Although she couldn't really fake a surprise, she smiled kindly and replied,

"That's great news. I-I am happy for you and her. I am sure you two will have a wonderful, beautiful baby."

Alex smiled kindly in return and replied, "Thank you, Lycoris.  It's very happy news for us and of course, you're going to be an aunt.  Although my darling won't admit it, our baby will need you, too."

Lycoris smiled softly and although she was silent for a few moments, she then replied with a little sadness,

"I would have loved that but you know how things will turn out for me. I doubt I'll be around when it's time for Nerine to deliver. At least, not my current self."

She paused then realizing that Alex didn't know about what the chancellor was working on, she took a deep breath then continued, 

"Umm there's something that Matthew and the chancellor are looking into. They are trying to come up with a way that saves my other self from being sacrificed. So this way, everyone gets what they want. She lives and I go. That's why I am saying that at least not my current self will be present."

Alex was surprised to hear this news and shaking his head, he replied,

"Hey, is this what you want?  I can't speak for the others but I'd infinitely prefer having you around over her.  You are the real Lycoris, as far as I'm concerned."

He couldn't understand why Lycoris was still so insistent on sacrificing himself although he knew her reasons.

Lycoris smiled sadly but nodding, she said, 

"It's the best solution for everyone, you know. My other self wants to live and umm, she and Matthew are getting quite close to each other. He likes her and she returns his feelings. So how can I stand in front of their happiness? In the same time, the sacrifice can still take place and the devils' world will be saved. So it's the best solution for all problems."

Alex shook his head and replied, "It's not.  I know you think that's the best solution but I think you're just taking the easy way out.  It certainly isn't what I want nor do I think it's what Matt wants."

Lycoris sighed and replied,

"No, Alex. Matt agrees. He-he is the first one I told about this idea and he asked the chancellor to look into it. I just told you why; he and my other self like each other so he certainly doesn't mind this plan."

She paused then trying to contain her sadness as much as possible, she continued, "And you-you have your future to look to and it certainly doesn't include me. So it is my right to choose my fate myself."

Alex looked sadly at Lycoris and replied, "Hey, you are a part of my future.  Just because my darling is pregnant now doesn't mean that you have to be apart from us.  It's true that I need to focus more on my darling now but that doesn't mean that I never want to be with you.  You must know that."

Lycoris looked a little upset by Alex's words and sadly replied,

"What does Nerine's pregnancy have to do with this? This-this was how things were going to be either way, regardless of anything. You know that Nerine doesn't stand having me around so for sure, I don't have a place in your lives. You know my decision to sacrifice myself from the very start, Alex. Nothing changed it."

Alex frowned and replied, "So the person who could persuade you to change your mind is Nerine?  Does no one else matter?  Is that what you're saying?"

Lycoris quickly shook her head and replied, 

"No, that's not what I meant. No one can change my mind, Alex, be it Nerine or anybody else. It's my future and I should decide how I want it to go, right? Can we please stop talking about this?"

She sighed and wondered why Alex was trying to change her mind now about sacrificing herself, when he was the one who understood her before.

Alex sighed inwardly and he replied, "Ok, I'm sorry."

Inside, he didn't know what to do.  He wanted Lycoris to change her mind but he felt helpless about how he could do so.

Lycoris was relieved that Alex had decided to put down the subject for now and smiling a bit, she said,

"Let's just try to enjoy the day, ok? It's been a very long time since we've had such a chance to be in each other's company."

Alex smiled softly and replied, "Yes, that's true.  Hey, I know.  How about you choose our topic of conversation?  We can talk about whatever you want."

Lycoris smiled a little and replied, 

"Ok. Well, umm, since Nerine's pregnancy is the latest news, are you already whether it will be a baby boy or a girl? What do you want it to be?"

Alex looked thoughtful and replied, "Well, it doesn't really matter to me.  As long as our baby is healthy although I do admit that perhaps I'm leaning towards a girl since she'll be beautiful like my darling and you."

He smiled sincerely at Lycoris.

Lycoris blushed a little but she smiled softly and said, 

"A baby girl will be nice. But a baby boy will be probably as handsome as you are."

She looked thoughtful for a moment then said, "I wonder if it will turn out to be a human or a devil. It's a 50/50 chance, right?"

Alex nodded and replied, "Yes, that's right.  I am curious about that as well.  But as I said, as long as our baby is healthy, that's all that'll really matter."

(I'm going to be gaming for a bit so if my posts are slow, that's why.  XD)

Lycoris nodded and smiling, she said, "That's right. Just take care of Nerine's health and I am sure you'll have a very healthy child."

She didn't know what else to say so she stayed silent, just enjoying being in Alex's company.
