Ryan sighed and replied, 

Ok, I understand.  I'll try my best to explain things to Lycoris.


He turned to Lycoris and said, "Duchess Irene already knows about these orders but she can't change them so we'll have to follow them for now."

Getting an idea, he quickly used his telepathy and added,

After we're in our rooms, I'll teleport to your room and keep you company.  The soldiers will remain outside so they shouldn't know of this.

Alex nodded and followed the shapeshifter as she gave directions to the building where they would stay.  He would see that the shapeshifter was cared for, as he was the only one who could do so at the moment.

Although Lycoris was going to protest right away, she liked Ryan's idea as he told her of it telepathically and replied,

Well, alright then. If that's the case. But hurry back, ok?

She then replied out loud, "Whatever. Go then. But I am not forgiving you for this."

The pair soon made it at a building near the one where the captain was staying. It was a ruined building, of course, but it was at least still intact and had some furniture inside, although quite rusty and full of dust.

As they made it inside, the shapeshifter said,

"Sorry we'll have to stay in such a place. I wish the accommodations were better but we'll have to adapt."

Ryan sighed sadly and replied, "I am sorry, my angel."

He then turned to the soldier and said, "Ok, please take me to my room.  I hope it's close."

Alex shook his head and replied, "No, it's all right.  I can clean it up and make it more accommodating for us."

Looking at the shapeshifter with a serious expression, he asked, "Did he hurt you a lot?  That man is so horrible.  It should have been me to take those blows."

The soldier nodded and then after he and Ryan were out of the room, he closed Lycoris' room's door and as usual, a couple of soldiers remained at the door. The soldier then led Ryan to his room, which wasn't far from Lycoris' but a couple of rooms away. He opened the door for Ryan and said,

"Here you are, sir. Do you need anything before I go?"

The shapeshifter did her best to keep looking strong but as she removed the hood off her head, her face clearly looked quite pale. Still, she replied quietly,

"I am fine. He just hit where it hurts the most."

Obviously, she was referring to her heart, but anyhow, she continued, "If it had been you, it wouldn't have been just some blows. He would have killed you on the spot. That's why I had to take responsibility."

Ryan shook his head and replied, "No, I'll be fine.  I think I'll take a nap so it's probably best not to wake me unless it's something important."

He entered the room and looking to the soldier once more, he added, "Thank you for taking me here."

Alex nodded and replied, "I see.  That man is very unstable."

He added, "Would the healing magic you taught me help to alleviate your pain?"

He wanted to know how he could help her and felt anger at the captain for hurting the shapeshifter as he did.

The soldier nodded and replied, "You're welcome, sir. Please excuse me."

He bowed politely then took his leave, closing the door after him.

The shapeshifter replied, "No need for it. Just leave me be and I'll be alright."

She slowly walked to one of the coaches and after dusting it off a little, she lay down on it, taking deep breathes and trying to restore her strength.

After Ryan was alone, he cast an illusion spell of himself lying down on the bed, in case anyone thought to check on him.  It would appear that he was asleep.  Once that was done, he teleported himself to the inside of Lycoris' room and then smiling at her, he quietly said,

"I'm here, angel."

Alex thought it was best to do what the shapeshifter wanted and he replied,

"Ok but I'm going to tidy this room.  You should have a clean environment for your recovery."

He opened the window and then set to work to cleaning, especially getting rid of the dust.

Lycoris grinned happily as she heard Ryan's voice and hugged him lovingly, happy that he was here for her. She said, keeping her voice low,

"I am so happy you're here. I wouldn't imagine staying in this room all by myself, you know. I would be too lonely."

The shapeshifter didn't protest and observed Alex as he did his best to clean around and get rid of the dust. As she did for a while, she quietly commented,

"You clean well. For a man, I mean. They don't usually care about these things."

Ryan smiled softly at Lycoris and replied, "I could tell.  At least I'm here now and the soldier outside my room believes that I'm sleeping so no one should come in.  I guess this is what we'll have to do for now until we can persuade Sia otherwise."

Alex grinned and replied, "Thanks.  I learned how to take care of myself a long time ago and that includes cleaning and cooking."

He continued to clean and added, "This should help make things brighter here."

Lycoris frowned slightly at the mention of Lisianthus and replied with a little annoyance in her voice,

"She's really annoying, isn't she? Who is she to think she can separate us like that? She's really jealous, isn't she?"

The shapeshifter nodded and although she wanted to get up and help him cleaning, she thought it was a bad idea as she would most likely collapse if she tried. So instead she just rested and continued watching Alex as he cleaned around.

Ryan sighed and replied, "I don't know.  I told you earlier that Duchess Irene already knew of this arrangement.  She tried to persuade Sia otherwise but she wouldn't hear of it.  But I don't know why she didn't tell us this before we left her office."

Alex continued to clean the room until it was neat and tidy.  Then he returned to the shapeshifter's side and said,

"All done.  Is there anything you'd like?"

Lycoris rolled her eyes and replied, "Isn't it obvious? She knew we'd protest, of course, so she wanted to surprise us and let us know at the last moment. She's really a sneaky one, that queen, right? But she should know better than to mess with us like this."

She crossed her arms, swearing within herself that Lisianthus wouldn't have Ryan for herself ever.

The shapeshifter shook her head and replied, "No and well done cleaning around. It should be more bearable to stay here now."

She paused then said, "You should rest too. We had a tiring journey coming here."

Ryan wrapped his arms around Lycoris in a loving hug and replied,

"The important thing is that we're together for now, right?  So what do you want to do?  Do you wish to rest?"

Alex nodded and replied, "That sounds good."

He found a nearby couch and laid down as well, feeling a bit tired from their journey.

Lycoris calmed down as Ryan wrapped his arms around her and smiling softly, she said,

"Well, I suppose a little rest wouldn't hurt. After all, it was quite stressful to go through escaping and all that but we were successful at least."

The shapeshifter watched as Alex found himself a couch and laid down and as she was quite tired herself, she decided to sleep for a bit, assuming that Alex will do the same. So she closed her eyes and relaxed and indeed, she fell fast asleep.

Ryan nodded and replied, "Yes, that's true.  Then some rest should be in order."

He led Lycoris to the bed and after the two laid down, he wrapped his arms around her again and said,

"There, you'll always be safe as long as my arms are around you."

Alex soon fell asleep, too, although he didn't sleep deeply.  Part of him wanted to be alert in case anyone unexpected would drop by.  After what he had witnessed earlier, Alex was determined to protect the shapeshifter.

Lycoris wrapped her arms around Ryan as well and happily said, "As always, my Ryan."

She gave him a sweet kiss and said, "See you later."

She then closed her eyes, soon falling asleep in his arms.

A little while after both the shapeshifter and Alex had fallen asleep, one of the soldiers roughly knocked on the door. Although it was a worn out door and the soldier could have easily opened it himself, he saw that there was no need to do so unless none of the pair opened the door.

Ryan smiled softly and soon, he fell asleep as well although it was a light slumber rather than a deep one.

As Alex hadn't fallen deeply asleep, he heard the knock at the door.  Getting up, he quietly opened the door and noticed the soldier outside.  He looked curiously at him, wondering what he wanted.

(Getting late here so I should get some sleep now.  I'll check back tomorrow after I'm done with work and all that.  Nite, nite, Love.  ^^)

As Lycoris slept, her sleep wasn't a very pleasant one, because the real Lycoris was trying to become free. However, this other Lycoris was a lot more powerful and was able to suppress her more easily than usual.

The soldier looked at Alex and frowning, he asked,

"Where's the shapeshifter? The captain requires her presence right away."

(Back from work now.  XD)

As Ryan slept, he felt a stirring and opening his eyes, he could see that Lycoris' sleep wasn't as restful.  He looked sadly at her and whispered,

"I don't know what to do.  I need a sign."

Alex replied quietly, "Did he say why?  She's asleep right now so I think it's best that she gets as much rest as possible."

Lycoris continued stirring slightly in her sleep but for a moment, just a short moment, her face softened, showing a very frightened, pained expression full of sadness, like the real Lycoris had taken control but only for a moment, before her expression became as usual, composed and strong.

The soldier frowned and replied, "Wake her up. The captain didn't tell me what he wanted but he said he wanted her now and we don't question the captain."

Ryan noticed the pained, saddened expression on Lycoris' face and reaching out to touch her cheek, he whispered,

"I miss you.  If you can, please come back to us.  Come back to me."

Alex frowned and replied, "Fine.  I'll wake her up but if she gets angry, it's all your fault."

He left the soldier standing outside the door and approaching the couch, he gently shook the shapeshifter's shoulder and whispered,

"I'm sorry but you need to wake up."

Lycoris continued stirring for a bit more then she opened her eyes, looking a bit startled. It was obviously the other Lycoris, as she had a frown over her face in an annoyed expression. As she felt Ryan's hand over her cheek, she asked,

"Are you awake, Ryan?"

The shapeshifter woke up as Alex shook her and groaning slightly, she frowned and asked quietly,

"What is it?"

Right away, Ryan knew that it was the other Lycoris who had taken control but keeping his composure, he smiled and replied,

"Yeah, I am.  I'm sorry.  I didn't mean to wake you.  Are you all right?"

Alex replied, "There's a soldier outside and he says that the captain requests your presence although I tried to tell him that you were sleeping and you need your rest.  I could go in your place, though.  I don't want him to hurt you again."

Lycoris didn't reply right away, she eventually she said, "I am fine, I guess. I can't say that I had the most restful sleep though."

She was in a bad mood because of how the real Lycoris tried to take control although she was able to suppress her in the end.

The shapeshifter frowned as she heard that the captain requested her presence. She certainly didn't need to deal with him again so soon. But sighing, she said,

"No, stay here. I'll be back shortly."

She sat up then reached to her feet and although she could stand up without troubles, her feet weren't quite steady although she did her best to hide any weakness.

Ryan looked worried and replied, "What's wrong?  You can tell me, you know.  If there's anything I can do to help, I'd like to do so."

Alex could see that the shapeshifter wasn't in good physical condition and he looked to her and said,

"I'll go with you.  I'm worried about what that captain wants and I won't let him hurt you, even if that means I get hurt instead."
