Romance RP

Although Lisinathus usually preferred punishments, she agreed with Ryan's suggestion, as Alex's safety was the most important thing at the moment. So nodding, she replied,

"Yeah, that sounds like a reasonable thing to do. If the shapeshifter cares about her mother at all, she should agree."

Irene nodded as well and said, "Yes, I agree with that thinking."

On the other hand, Lycoris raised an eyebrow and replied, annoyed, "What? And just let her go like that after everything she's done? And that woman is supposed to be quite powerful, isn't she? You're going to let her help the captain and the shapeshifter again?"

The shapeshifter nodded and although she was keeping a strong and brave front, inside, she was worried about her mother and stressed by the entire situation.

Ryan reached out to gently touch Lycoris' arm and replied, "I understand how you feel, angel, but at the moment, we should think about getting everyone we care about to safety first.  We'll make sure that neither that captain nor the shapeshifter will ever go near you again."

Alex held on to the shapeshifter and quietly said,

"I'm not leaving you.  I'll stay and help you to the end."

Although Lycoris wanted to frankly say that she didn't care one bit about what happened to Alex, because he was the one staying there by his free will, she couldn't say that in front of Lisianthus or Duchess Irene. Instead, she only showed an annoyed, peeved look.

Lisianthus and Duchess Irene were both surprised by this Lycoris' behavior, as they at least expected her to worry about Alex's safety a bit.

The shapeshifter had to inwardly admit that she was grateful for Alex's presence, for his support was something she wasn't used to having but it helped. Quietly with a bit of reluctance, she said,

"Thank you."

Seeing the look on Lycoris' face, he communicated with her,

I'll make it up to you, angel, once we're alone.


Turning to the others, he asked, "What other business do we need to discuss?"

Alex smiled softly but didn't say anything for a few moments.  Then deciding on a change of topic, he asked,

"So how long will it take for us to get to where the captain is?"

Lisianthus looked at Ryan for a moment and in her eyes, there was almost a look that there was a lot to discuss on a personal level, but she didn't say anything. So shaking her head, she replied,

"No, you can go. The soldiers outside the office will lead you to your rooms so you can rest."

The shapeshifter replied, "About a couple of hours more. I've been to that place once and it's nothing fancy but it will do for a hideout for now."

Ryan saw the look in Lisianthus' eyes and turning to Lycoris, he asked,

"Angel, will you be ok resting by yourself for a while?  There are some things I need to talk to Sia about but you don't need to stay."

Alex nodded and replied, "Ok."

He sighed and then said, "I wonder what he'll do now after this attack."

As Lycoris knew what exactly Ryan and Lisianthus were going to talk about, she couldn't leave Ryan by himself. No, she wouldn't give Lisianthus that chance. Ryan was hers and only hers.

Giving Ryan a cute, loving pout, she held on to his arm gently and said,

"Aww I can't do that. I'll be very lonely by myself, you know. If we leave, we should leave together otherwise I am staying."

The shapeshifter didn't reply right away but then she said,

"He doesn't know that we lost Lycoris. I couldn't tell him that telepathically. He still thinks that we have them and we could run away with them."

Ryan couldn't help but smile a little upon seeing Lycoris' expression and turning to Lisianthus, he said,

"Perhaps we can talk later?"

Although he did want to talk to Lisianthus right away, it seemed as though Lycoris wouldn't give him a chance to do so right away.

(Man, if Lisianthus doesn't want to lose Ryan, she should be more aggressive in getting him.  XD)

Alex looked surprised and replied, "Oh are you going to tell him the truth?  Or come up with some sort of lie?"

(lol She might have to resort to that eventually although right now, she's hurt so she isn't thinking clearly. XD)

Lisianthus was hurt and surprised by how frankly the couple were showing their affections right in front of her, not even trying to be careful about her feelings, and how easily Ryan just pushed her away for now for Lycoris' sake. Hurt and heartbroken, she kept a cold front as she said,

"I did say you can go. The soldiers on the door will escort you."

The shapeshifter furrowed her eyebrows and replied, "Do I have another choice? I can't lie to him. Every soldier here knows the truth and if I didn't tell him, they would. You have to remember that they're loyal to him in the first place, not to us."

(I see.  XD)

Ryan nodded and replied, "I'm sorry.  I guess we should get our rest first but I will talk to you as soon as I can, ok?"

He gave Lisianthus a tender look, letting her know that he still cared for her very much.

Alex sighed and replied, "I suppose you're right but I can only imagine how angry he'll be and what kind of punishment we'll receive."

He looked on sadly, holding on to the shapeshifter as they continued to ride.

Despite Ryan's tender look, Lisianthus didn't show any signs of returning the looks, because the scene she saw only moments ago left a stronger effect in her heart. She didn't respond in words but turned her gaze away, wanting the couple to leave already.

The shapeshifter didn't say anything in response right away, as secretly, she planned to take the blame for what happened. Although it was Alex's fault in a way that the couple could escape, she couldn't tell the captain that, for she knew that he could go as far as to kill Alex in punishment. However, he wouldn't go so far with her, so it was best that she took that option.

She finally said, "When we're there, just don't speak unless I give you the permission to. Understand that?"

Ryan couldn't help but feel hurt at seeing Lisianthus not respond to him and turning to Duchess Irene, he said,

"I guess we should get rest but please take care of Sia for me.  I'd appreciate that very much."

(Man, I hope that Lisianthus understands that this Lycoris is much more open and selfish about her feelings and all that.  O.O)

Alex nodded and replied, "Ok, I understand."

(Ahh she doesn't know her quite well yet although she's definitely not having a good impression of her so far. XD But she's more hurt that Ryan easily agreed to go with Lycoris and changed his opinion just for her and right in front of Lisianthus. XD)

Irene nodded and replied, "Of course, Ryan. You don't need to tell me that. Please rest well and we'll see you two later today."

The shapeshifter nodded and the party continued riding through the forests for a couple of hours before they finally made it at their destination. The captain's place was apparently some ruins of an old small village, where no one lived anymore. The buildings were still in place and not greatly damaged so they could seek shelter in some of them, but the whole atmosphere of the village was a sad, dark one.

(I see but it's hard for Ryan to explain how things are with this Lycoris without Lycoris finding out.  XD)

Ryan smiled softly at Duchess Irene and replied, "Thank you."

He turned to Lycoris and asked, "Are you ready to go, Lycoris?"

Alex looked around the town and he commented,

"Gosh, this place looks awfully lonely but I guess no one would think to look for us here."

(Yup, that's understandable but it will take Lisianthus some time to comprehend that. XD)

Lycoris held Ryan's arm lovingly and replied with her usual flirtatious look, "Of course, my Ryan. Please lead the way."

Lisianthus was even more peeved as she heard Lycoris' words but didn't say anything.

The shapeshifter nodded and replied,

"Yeah. It's an old village that was destroyed during the war and its people fled and never returned. So I suppose it never occurred to the authorities to try rebuilding it but it's just as well."

They soon came to a halt in front of a big building with a few soldiers guarding it, and the soldiers began getting off their horses, for this was where the captain took camp. The shapeshifter got off the horse as well and once Alex followed, she secured the horse and led the way inside.

(True.  XD)

Ryan blushed but nodding, he got up and helped Lycoris to her feet.  Then they left the room and there, they followed the soldiers to their room where they could get some rest for a bit.

Alex followed the shapeshifter as the party entered the building and although a part of him was afraid of the captain and his reaction, he had decided to trust the shapeshifter and follow her lead so that was all he could do for now.

The soldiers on the door led the couple to one of the rooms and after reaching it, one of them opened the door and showed them inside. He then said to Ryan,

"This is Lady Lycoris' room. Please follow me so I can take you to your room, sir."

As the pair went inside, the shapeshifter leaned in to Alex and whispered, "Now remember. Not a word unless I ask you to speak."

They soon made it at a large room, where the captain was seated along with some of his soldiers. At seeing the shapeshifter and Alex come in, he immediately noticed that Lycoris and Ryan weren't with them. Frowning, he said,

"Where are our prisoners?"

The shapeshifter took a deep breath and going forward, she bowed and said,

"Forgive me, sir. They escaped. I take responsibility. The attacks happened suddenly and although I tried to take the prisoners away to the escape tunnel quickly, the queen's soldiers found us and overpowered me and the soldiers and took them away."

Although this was obviously a lie, it was how the shapeshifter planned to take the blame.

Ryan was surprised that he and Lycoris would have separate rooms but he thought that it might be a good opportunity for him to talk to Lisianthus privately.  Turning to Lycoris, he asked,

"Will you be ok here, angel?"

Alex was surprised that the shapeshifter was willing to take the blame for his failure but true to his word, he didn't say anything, allowing the shapeshifter to speak for the group.

Lycoris was surprised as the soldier made it clear that they had separate rooms and frowning, she replied to Ryan,

"What do you mean by that? You can't leave me by myself. I'll be very lonely here on my own and don't forget that I am still in danger."

Addressing the soldier, she said, "Ryan is staying with me."

The soldier replied apologetically, "I am sorry, my lady. It's Her Majesty's orders. If you wish to change the plans, please talk to her but I have to carry out the orders I was given."

The captain's eyes widened in surprise as the shapeshifter told him that they lost the prisoners. Approaching her, he caught her by the collar and huskily replied,

"What do you mean, they escaped? You lost them? Is that what you're telling me?"

The shapeshifter didn't resist but keeping a strong, brave front, she replied, "I am sorry, sir. We did our best but they were more than us. And that human definitely didn't waste the chance to run away."

The captain didn't say anything, and slowly let go of the shapeshifter and took a few steps away. The shapeshifter wondered what he was thinking but before she could guess, the captain came at her and furiously punched her right in the chest, a blow that she was even more sensitive to because of her condition. He furiously yelled at her,

"You stupid moron! You weak, pathetic, half-burned loser! Acting all strong and tough when you're nothing but a moron!"

The shapeshifter couldn't respond because she could hardly take her breathes, and although she did her best to remain strong, her feet weren't nearly as steady as before.

Ryan looked curiously at the soldier and asked, "Did Sia give any specific reasons as to why we're to be given separate rooms?"

Although he could make his guesses, he wished to confirm them.

Alex was alarmed as he saw what the captain had done to her and unable to restrain himself, he rushed to her side.  He looked to the captain and said,

"We'll get them back, sir.  This is just a temporary setback."

The soldier looked confused, but he replied, "No, sir. The queen only gave her orders and I have to obey without asking questions."

The captain looked angrily at Alex and furiously said, "You had them right between your hands and you let them go so carelessly and you tell me this is a temporary setback!? They were right with you, right with you! And where were you, idiot? Why didn't you help prevent this?!"

The shapeshifter quickly replied as strongly as she could muster, "Dmitri has nothing to do with this. I-I didn't let him know early enough so he could help. It-it was my mistake as I should have asked for his help earlier but I didn't."

She hoped that this would end soon and wanted Alex out of it, as she didn't know how long she could stay on her feet steadily.

Ryan nodded and replied, "I see."

He turned to Lycoris and said,

"This will probably only be temporary but if it bothers you that much, then we should talk to Sia.  I don't wish to trouble her, though, after all she's done for us."

Alex stayed his ground and looking directly at the captain, he calmly said, "We'll get them back soon.  The war hasn't been lost."

Lycoris was angered and annoyed as she replied, "I know why she's doing this. She's jealous because you fell for me, isn't she? But that's not my problem. She has no right to separate us like this."

The captain was too furious at that moment but as the sight of the shapeshifter and Alex only angered him further, he yelled,

"Get out of my sight, morons! But I swear-you'll pay for your mistake. I'll make sure you pay dearly for this. Get out!"

Ryan sighed inwardly, as he could see that Lycoris wouldn't be calmed down anytime soon.  Getting an idea, he said, "Let me communicate quickly to Duchess Irene and see if we can resolve this."

Using his telepathy, he reached out to Duchess Irene and said,

Duchess Irene, it's me.  I'm sorry for disturbing you but Lycoris and I just found out that Sia gave us separate rooms.  I don't have a problem with it but Lycoris is having an issue, as you can imagine.

Alex helped the shapeshifter to her feet and quickly took her out of the room, as he thought it best that they leave before the captain did anything drastic.

Duchess Irene received Ryan's message and replied,

I know of the orders and although I tried persuading Lisianthus otherwise back at the time, I am afraid I couldn't. Umm she says that there's no reason for you and Lycoris to remain together in one room.

She paused then said,

Ryan, I know I might sound a little selfish here but would you please go by what she wanted? Lisianthus would be more hurt if you or Lycoris insisted on remaining together and she doesn't need that at the moment.

The shapeshifter did her best to keep a strong front as she went with Alex away. As they walked, she quietly said, out of breath,

"We'll be staying at a different building near this one. Just follow me to outside."
