Romance RP

Although Lycoris felt a little calmer as Ryan placed the spell around her to protect her mind from nightmares, she still moaned a bit, for her nightmares weren't spell-induced but rather coming from herself, as she recalled the recent attack and how Nerine and Alex abandoned her.

Lady Penelope asked with interest,

"You know of such a spell? That's interesting, you know. You're quite the tough man, you know, Ryan? I know you want to protect Lycoris from the captain's hands but in all honesty, you should be careful as well. They might come after you for being the obstacle."

(I'm not sure whether Ryan's spell is supposed to prevent natural nightmares as well but if it does, let me know and I'll fix it. XD)

(Ahh nope, it doesn't.  Ryan's assuming that a spell is being used on Lycoris.  XD)

Ryan nodded and replied, "Yes, I'm sure they will.  I'll do everything I can to protect Lycoris.  She doesn't deserve to be hurt after everything she's gone through."

He glanced at Lycoris and noticed that spell seemed to be having little effect.  He then said,

"So her nightmares aren't spell-induced?  I just assumed they were."

(Ahh I see. XD)

Lady Penelope asked, "Did someone try to induce nightmares to her before? That's just terrible. Why would anyone want to do that to anybody?"

Lycoris continued moaning painfully in her sleep, and she would quietly mutter some words begging Alex and Nerine not to go, then she would seem as though she was reliving the last attack, before she would mention Ryan's name as well, begging him not to abandon her.

Ryan shook his head and replied, "Not that I know of.  But I think someone tried to do so to me and I remember that the chancellor did the same to Sia before I found out.  But if Lycoris' nightmares aren't spell-induced, then they must be happening naturally.  I can understand why.  I'll try something else."

He cast a different spell on Lycoris, this time protecting her mind from any naturally induced nightmares so that she could sleep peacefully.

Lycoris became calmer as Ryan cast his spell, and the nightmares seemed to fade away. Her moans slowly stopped and she slept more peacefully.

Lady Penelope didn't comment on this but she observed Ryan with much interest, and seemed to be noting something within herself.

Seeing that was taken care of, she looked thoughtful and said,

"It's been a while. I wonder if the queen is having more troubles with the people outside. They seemed to be on the verge of breaking in but she wouldn't let them do such a thing of course. I just hope things aren't too violent outside."

(I wonder what Lady Penelope is thinking exactly.  XD)

Ryan looked worried and nodding, he replied, "Me, too.  I would go and help Sia but I don't wish to leave Lycoris' side.  She's become more scared since that awful attack on her and I can't blame her.  It only took a few seconds of her being out of my sight for her to get attacked.  I should have taken more precautions but I really didn't think any intruders would be able to get through."

(Getting sleepy here so I'll get off for the night now and get some sleep.  I'll post tomorrow and hopefully, I'll finish the last file early so we can RP tomorrow like usual but we'll see.  Anyway, nite, nite, Love.  ^^)

(Nite, nite, phoenix and I hope you're able to finish the file in time. ^^ And let's just say that Lady Penelope is really interested in Ryan at the moment. XD)

Lady Penelope was silent for a few moments and nodding, she replied,

"I can understand that. But the matter with the queen is quite important as well. If you want to go to her side, perhaps I can keep an eye on Lady Lycoris? She's sleeping anyhow at the moment so she probably won't feel anything. And I hope you know that I can make her safe as well."

Ryan smiled softly and replied, "Yes, I do trust you to protect Lycoris as well.  Hmm, I'll use my telepathy to communicate to Sia to find out how dangerous the situation is."

Opening his mind, he used his telepathy and said,

Sia, I know what's going on.  Lady Penelope told me.  Do you need my help?  


(I'm still working on that last file for proofreading but I'll find out this evening how far I get.  But I'll be back this evening to make another post so see you then.  XD)

Outside the castle walls, Lisianthus was having a little difficulty driving the commoners away, for they were angry and furious and blinded by their feelings, all they wanted was revenge on the queen. They weren't armed except by torches and sticks and although Lisianthus preferred to only keep them out for now, she had to kill a couple of them who hastily tried to enter the castle.

As she received Ryan's telepathic message, she could only briefly reply, her voice rough and quite serious,

No, Ryan. I can take care of things on my own. Stay where you are.

(Man, Lisianthus really is scary, killing commoners like that.  :/  But on great news, I finished my proofreading work so I'll be free to RP this evening.  )

Although Ryan felt hesitant to leave the matter alone, he thought that pushing the issue would only make things worse.  He simply replied,

Ok, but tell me if you need me.  I'll always be here for you.

(Yays. Congratulations on finishing your work. ^^ I am all done with my studies now as well so I'm here. XD And yup, but Lisianthus is justifying it by saying that no one should ever try to barge into the castle like that otherwise they're no different from criminals. XD)

Lisianthus didn't respond for although she appreciated Ryan's offer to help, she didn't have time to show any appreciation.

Meanwhile, Lady Penelope patiently waited for Ryan to finish communication with Lisianthus.

(O_O  Man, Ryan's saying that he wishes that Lisianthus was more like Lycoris.  XD  And thanks.  We're both free this evening to RP.  ^^)

As Lisianthus didn't reply, Ryan closed off the telepathy.  Then looking to Lady Penelope, he said,

"Sia told me that she can handle the problem but I don't know.  I hope she won't do anything rash."

(Yup, yup. ^^ And that's an interesting thing to hear. XD)

Lady Penelope nodded and replied,

"Same here. If this is taking long, it means that the people outside are probably angrier than we thought. Let's hope that the situation can be handled peacefully without violence, on both sides."

Ryan nodded and replied, "Yeah, same here."

Looking thoughtful, he then asked, "Lady Penelope, why do you think Sia makes such rash decisions at times, like executing those soldiers?  Was her dad like that, too?"

Lady Penelope shook her head and replied,

"No, no, not at all. Her father was such a fair king and he was loved by almost everyone, as was his queen. It was such a surprise that he took the decision of war in his last days and that was his downfall, unfortunately. The people never forgave him for it."

She paused then said, "I cannot really think why the current queen would behave this way but it could be that going through a time of war and losing everyone close to her at one point made her the way she is. I don't believe she's a bad person but she doesn't have the best ability to judge on how to behave correctly."

Ryan nodded and replied, "I see.  I want to help Sia see a better way of ruling her kingdom by helping her people and making them happy but how do I do it?  I've tried talking to her but it seems that I will have to do much more than that."

Lady Penelope showed a helpless face and replied,

"I'm afraid I don't know her all too well to give you a piece of advice there, Sir Ryan. I would have guessed that you'd have been more able to convince her into better ways of ruling, seeing how close you two are. I'm surprised that's not the case. It seems that the queen is much more stubborn than I personally thought she would be."

Ryan sighed sadly and replied, "Yes, that seems to be the case and unfortunately, even if I advise her, I don't have much power to change things.  It would be different if we were married and I was king.  It's not that I want to marry Sia because of that.  I do love her, so much so that I want to help her in any way that I can."

Lady Penelope was silent for a few moments, and she seemed to be pondering over something. Then giving Ryan a serious look, she replied,

"Sir Ryan, I understand that you and Her Majesty are very much in love but . . . do you think that if the queen comes to realize that you'll have more power of changing things once you become king, perhaps so in a way that she doesn't approve of, she might still go through marrying you?"

Ryan wondered where exactly Lady Penelope was going with her thinking and he replied,

"Well, Sia has said that my opinion matters as much as her own but I don't know...If that were really true, she would have at least postponed executing those soldiers, for one.  

Are you saying that she may not want to marry me because that would make me more powerful?"

Lady Penelope shrugged and replied,

"It's just a thought . . . But it could happen. The queen obviously is quite stubborn on doing things the way she likes so I imagine that she wouldn't like anyone to interfere with her decisions. Knowing that you'd have more power to do so, she might want to prevent it at all by not marrying you in the first place."

Ryan felt saddened by such a possibility and replied, "I see.  So her kingdom and power are really more important than our love."

He looked off to the side, his shoulders lumping in sadness and pain.

Lady Penelope looked at Ryan as he seemed upset by the possibility and looking a little gently at him, she replied,

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. It's just a possibility after all but then, when you think about it, it's quite possible to happen so you should keep it in mind. Don't forget that the people are most likely to oppose your marriage as well as you're human so it gives the queen all the more reason to rethink about things, at the very least."

Ryan nodded and replied, "Yes, I know about that.  But humans aren't so bad.  They're like gods and devils.  Some humans are good and others are bad.  But I only want to do good here and protect and love the people I care about."

He gazed at Lycoris sleeping softly and then quietly added, "If I have no one else, I'll have Lycoris.  I don't know what I'd do without her."

Lady Penelope didn't comment but rather observed the two of them with careful, thoughtful eyes. Lycoris continued to sleep, more peacefully thanks to Ryan's spell, and was having more pleasant dreams. As she slept, she softly whispered,

"You're everything to me, Ryan. Don't ever leave me."
