Ryan nodded and replied, "Ok."

He then first summoned several dummy soldiers who could wield magic.  He made them cast light magic towards Lycoris and waited to see how she would combat them.

Lycoris could feel a number of dummies around her and sensed that they could use light magic. Thinking of the spell she had just learned, she summoned the dark tidal wave attack, doing her best to concentrate this time and attacked all of them at once.

Ryan watched as Lycoris cast the dark tidal wave spell, attacking all of the dummy soldiers at once.  They immediately fell upon being attacked and Ryan commented,

"Excellent.  You knocked all of them down at once.  Quite impressive."

Lycoris smiled happily as she knew of her success and replied,

"Thanks, Ryan. I am glad I could cast the spell correctly this time."

Ryan grinned and replied, "I had no doubt you would.  Now I'll summon another battle scenario."

He cast a spell to summon three dummy soldiers.  However, this time, they were non-magic users.  One of them wielded the sword, the second wielded an axe, and the third could throw knives.  As Ryan made the first two dummy soldiers move first, he waited to see how Lycoris would react.

As Ryan summoned the dummies, Lycoris couldn't feel any magical presence so she guessed they were non-magic users. Listening to the sounds carefully, she could guess that the two who attacked used a sword and an axe. As she felt them coming nearer, she teleported herself behind them and then quickly summoned a couple of dark energy balls and fired them at the soldiers.

Ryan watched as Lycoris quickly teleported herself and then cast a couple of dark energy balls at the dummy soldiers.  They immediately were destroyed and then there was the last soldier left.  That soldier then threw a couple of knives in Lycoris' direction and Ryan was alert to see how quickly Lycoris would defend herself, knowing that he would need to intervene if Lycoris wasn't quick enough.

Lycoris had heard the two first dummies get destroyed just before she heard what seemed to be knives thrown towards her. Acting as quickly as she could, she summoned a defensive shield just as the knives were about to hit her. As she was in the top of her concentration, she summoned the dark fire magic ball and fired it at the last soldier, hoping it was enough.

Ryan was both pleased and relieved as Lycoris was able to summon a defensive shield and then used a dark fire ball at the last soldier.  The last soldier was immediately destroyed and seeing that there were no more enemies, he commented,

"That was wonderful, Lycoris.  I was worried for a moment there but you sure can react quickly."

Lycoris took her breathes and smiling, she replied,

"Hey, you should have more trust in me, you know. I can hear really well so I could guess when the attack was coming."

She was done taking her breathes and feeling calm again, she said,

"So I suppose we're done with today's lesson, right? We should probably get some lunch. These battles made me a little hungry."

She giggled a little over her comment.

Ryan chuckled and replied, "Sure, I'm hungry, too, and we both deserve a delicious meal after the great lesson."

The puppies barked happily at Ryan's comment and Ryan added, "And our boys agree, of course."

He held Lycoris' arm and led the way back to the bench where the puppies were sitting up comfortably.

After they made it at the bench, Lycoris reached out to pick up both puppies in her arms. Once they were securely there, she held on to Ryan's arm as he led the way back to her room where they could have a delicious lunch.

Ryan held on to Lycoris' arm and together, they left the training room and walked towards Lycoris' room, with the soldier on guard following.  Once they reached the door to her room, Ryan opened it for them and helped Lycoris inside and then entered himself.  He then rang for a maid to arrive so they could ask for lunch.

A maid soon arrived at Lycoris' room and after Ryan told her to fetch lunch, she left right away to do so.

After the maid had left, Lycoris asked Ryan,

"Is Duchess Irene coming to take us after lunch?"

Ryan nodded and replied, "Yup, that's right.  Duchess Irene will come by after lunch to pick us up.  I'm assuming that Sia is going to interrogate the soldiers in the dungeons although it may be somewhere else.  Duchess Irene should know for sure."

He paused and then asked, "Are you ok with accompanying me this afternoon?  I don't want to make you do anything that you'd find uncomfortable."

Lycoris sighed and replied,

"I admit that I am feeling a little scared but I do want to go. Our presence could make a different after all, right? If it would, then we must at least try."
