Ryan replied, "I'm ready when you are."

He helped Lycoris to her feet and then escorted her to the middle of the training room.  Then he waited for her instructions so he could try learning light magic.

After both were all ready for the lesson, Lycoris said,

"I'll start showing you in the same way Lady Penelope taught me, ok?"

She started with a short introduction about the light magic, something that Lady Penelope had told her, and the best ways to control light magic.

Ryan nodded and took mental notes as Lycoris explained the basics about light magic, especially about the ways to control it.  As it was very different from controlling dark magic, Ryan knew that he'd have to put more effort and hard work into learning it.

Once Lycoris was done with the introduction, she said,

"Umm okay, so I'll show you the first spell. It's a light defensive shield that protects best against dark magic. It's a basic spell so it doesn't really require a lot of magic energy."

She showed him how to cast the spell and all the instructions about it, then demonstrated it, creating a light powerful shield around her.

After Lycoris explained the spell to cast the light defensive shield and demonstrated it, Ryan made attempts to do so.  His firs couple of attempts failed but on the third try, he was able to successfully summon a light defensive shield.  Grinning, he said,

"Looks like I did it."

Lycoris smiled happily and replied,

"That's wonderful, Ryan. See? I told you you'll be able to learn light magic and I know you can do it in no time. This was only the beginning but it's a very good one."

Ryan smiled and replied, "Thanks, Lycoris.  You explained the spell very well so I had little difficulty in learning it.

So what's next?"

Lycoris looked thoughtful for a moment then replied,

"Next is how to summon a simple light energy ball. It's a basic light magic attack and not quite powerful but it can certainly help in certain situations."

She explained how to cast the spell, making sure not to leave anything out. Then she cast it in front of Ryan, creating a couple of light energy balls in her hands.

Ryan clapped in delight as he watched Lycoris cast the spell to summon light energy balls and he said,

"That's amazing.  You can do that so easily."

He then tried to summon the spell himself although it proved more difficult for him.  He kept on casting dark energy balls instead but he kept on trying.

As Ryan kept trying to cast the spell, Lycoris could guess he was having a little difficulty so she said, to encourage him,

"Concentrate, Ryan. Lady Penelope says that magic generally comes from the will inside of us to control it, especially light magic, and how much we concentrate. I know you're pretty powerful and you can do it. Come on."

Ryan nodded and taking Lycoris' words to heart, he tried again to summon a light energy ball and this time, he was finally able to do so.  Smiling, he said,

"I did it.  That was a little more difficult, I must admit."

Lycoris grinned happily and replied,

"That's great. I knew you could it. Things will be difficult in the beginning but I know you're quite powerful to overcome them all. Now are you ready for another spell?"

Ryan replied, "Sure, I'm ready when you are.  If I'm not able to cast a spell correctly, can you tell me what I'm doing wrong, like you did just now?  That'll help me a lot in correctly casting light spells."

Lycoris smiled and replied, "Of course. I won't leave you until you can cast all the spells perfectly. Now next, I'll show another spell but this one is a little more difficult. It's the flash light spell I cast earlier in the dark magic lesson. It requires a little more focus but it's a very useful spell."

She explained the spell very well, making sure to tell Ryan everything about it and not to leave anything out. Once she was done, she demonstrated it to him, casting a powerful light flash and of course, she made sure not to direct it at him.

Ryan watched as Lycoris explained and demonstrated the flash light spell for him.  He took notes of how he should cast it correctly and after Lycoris was done, Ryan focused his mind on the spell.  Then aiming towards a wall, he successfully cast the flash light spell.  His eyes wide with surprise, he said,

"Wow, I did it and on my first try, too."

Lycoris clapped happily, feeling quite excited as Ryan did quite the great progress on his first time in learning light magic. She replied happily,

"Wonderful job, Ryan! Hmm I should start feeling jealous now. You're really doing great progress here. You'll learn faster than me."

Ryan chuckled and shaking his head, he replied,

"Nah, I doubt that.  I don't have a natural aptitude for light magic unless I actually do and it was overlooked.  I think you'll still learn faster than me.  I end up having to concentrate and focus quite a bit to get the spells cast correctly."

Lycoris replied,

"Aww don't say that. It's just that you're still at the beginning. The more you practice and cast spells, the less effort it will take from you and you won't have to concentrate as much. Just do your best and believe in yourself, ok?"

She truly wanted to help Ryan as much as she could on this, even if he would become more powerful than her, for she believed in him and wanted to return a little of everything he'd been doing for her sake.

Ryan smiled softly at Lycoris and replied, "That's very wise advice, Lycoris.  I think I might have said the same of you once."

He reached out to touch her hand, appreciating all of her efforts to help him learn light magic.

Lycoris smiled softly and replied,

"I'm learning from the best, right? I really want you to put your effort in this, Ryan, and then you'll be able to control both light and dark magic fluently. I'll do my best at my lessons, too, and we'll be most powerful together, right? But I'll be always your proud student, thankful to everything you've done for me."

Ryan felt very touched by Lycoris' words and not able to contain himself, he hugged Lycoris and replied,

"You're very kind, Lycoris.  I don't know what I'd do if you weren't a part of my life, you know.  I feel like I can do anything when I'm with you."

Lycoris returned the hug softly and replied quietly,

"Promise me . . . Promise me that you'll be by my side till the end, Ryan. I feel I'm a lot stronger with you. I feel like I can do anything, too. Promise me you'll be there till the end."

Ryan nodded and replied, "I promise.  I won't ever leave you.  I'll be with you always."

He continued to hold on to Lycoris for a few more moments and then finally let go of her.

(I really do wish that Ryan and Lycoris would be a couple but as I said, that would complicate things.  XD)

(lol Same here actually and I have to admit that I've been thinking of a way but been failing so far. XD)

Lycoris smiled at Ryan's reply then said,

"Now let's continue the lesson, alright? We have about three spells left. Unless you want a break?"

(lol  I see.  XD)

Ryan looked thoughtful and replied, "How about one more spell and then we take a short break?  Does that sound good?"
