Ian nodded and said, "How about you lay the table while Anjela and I cut this up and serve it into plates? We'll be done quickly."

Nathan headed to his office to take care of some routine work but in reality, his mind was starting to wander to finding Lycoris again. He would leave Helena completely out of this from now on, partly because he was worried for her health but also because he couldn't trust her on this matter anymore.

Matthew nodded happily and replied, "Yup, I can do that."

He got up and took out the plates and utensils and laid the table.

Helena continued to practice her spells and it appeared that she didn't forget any of them, which she found to be a relief.  Now, if only she could get her lost memories back.

Anjela and Ian cut up the lasagna meanwhile, serving it into plates. Ian also got out a bottle of orange juice that he had in the icebox and poured into glasses for all of them.

They laid the plates and glasses on the table and then all took their seats. Ian grinned and said,

"Let's eat. I am starving."

Matthew nodded happily and taking his fork, he took a bite of his lasagna.  He swallowed and happily said, "Yum, this is delicious.  It tastes so good and so warm."

Ian reached for his fork as well and after taking a bite of his lasagna, he grinned and said,

"Heh, a piece of heaven, isn't it?"

Anjela started eating as well, a soft smile on her face as she enjoyed the quiet, peaceful afternoon.

Matthew grinned and replied, "It sure is."

As he continued to eat, he looked to Ian and asked, "So how was work?"

He was hoping that things were uneventful.

Ian turned to Matthew and said,

"It was quiet. Most people can't stop talking about how angry they are towards the queen and some are publicly supporting that secret group trying to kill her, if such a thing exists. And the soldiers are still out there looking for you, Anjela. You are doing the right thing by leaving."

Matthew nodded and replied, "Yeah, it's definitely best that we leave for now.  Home will be really quiet compared to here.  We'll make sure to keep in regular contact, though.  Well, I'm sure Anjela can."

He smiled a bit at her.

Anjela smiled a bit in return and nodding, she said,

"Of course. We will keep you updated with our whereabouts, Ian."

Ian smiled as well and said, "Do so."

He paused then something occurred to him and furrowing his eyebrows, he said, "How will you go to the human world though? The portal requires a great amount of energy to open and you aren't even nearly ready for that yet, Anjela."

Matthew looked troubled and replied, "And I can only cast healing magic.  Is there someone who can help us or some other way we can summon a portal to the human world?"

Ian looked thoughtful but troubled and shaking his head, he said,

"Not that I know of. Most gods can't summon a portal to the human world because it might harm them. I would try to help out but ..."

Anjela took a breath and said, "Hey, I'll do it. It might wear me down but I'll have plenty of time to rest afterwards."

Matthew turned to Anjela and replied, "Anjela, are you sure?  You haven't recovered enough and I'm worried."

He wondered if they should hold off on returning, at least until Anjela was stronger enough to summon the portal.

Anjela smiled a bit at Matthew and reaching out to squeeze his hand gently, she said,

"Hey, no need to worry. I'll be ok. Sure, it will tire me out a little bit but I am strong enough to handle it and as I said, I will have enough time to rest later."

Ian looked a bit unsure himself, worried about Anjela's well-being.

Matthew was uncertain as well and he replied, "I don't know.  Maybe we can try in a day or two?  Oh wait, I do have an idea.  If I give you a potion that'll give you extra strength, would that be ok?  It'd be a temporary effect but it should give you the strength to summon the portal without there being adverse effects."

Anjela looked thoughtful then nodding, she said,

"Would it be like that rejuvenation spell you used to cast on me back in the forest? Okay. That would definitely help."

Matthew nodded and replied, "Yup, that's right.  I have a potion that'll do just that, so I won't need to use any magic.  Once you cast the portal and we go through, you'll definitely need to rest.  The effect is only temporary."

Anjela nodded and said, "It will definitely help. Okay, then at least we have that problem all solved."

Ian nodded and continued, "You sure do. Be careful, you two. I want you to be safe and out of harm's way, so keep your eyes open despite everything."

Matthew nodded and replied, "We will."

He looked to Anjela and asked, "Where would be the safest place to summon a portal?  We shouldn't go too far if possible and where the queen's soldiers won't think to look."

Anjela looked thoughtful then remembering a spot, she turned to Matthew and said, 

"Do you remember that tower you and I went to one night? We can summon the portal at its top. I don't think anyone goes there and it will be away from the eyes of those soldiers or anyone else for that matter. What do you think?"

Meanwhile, Nathan decided to go on a quick expedition to the human world, to check on the place where Anjela said Lycoris was. From what he understood, she was in an extremely protected and secured place, so even attacking her would be no easy task, but Nathan needed to see for himself what kind of protection it was so he could think of a way around the situation.

Matthew remembered the tower and nodding, he replied, "Yup, that place sounds perfect and you're right that it's isolated."

He then said, "I'm going to miss it here but I have to admit that it'll be nice to go home for a little while."

Anjela smiled a little and said, "I'll admit I miss Devenshire, too. It is a beautiful, quiet town."

Ian smiled himself and said, "Sounds like it. I hope I can visit it someday, somehow if possible. I'll miss your presence, you two. Keep in touch and if you ever need any sort of help again, I'm always here, okay?"

Matthew smiled gratefully at Ian and replied, "Thanks, Ian.  We hope you can visit someday, too, and hopefully, things here will get quiet once we leave."

He continued to eat his lunch, getting his fill.

Ian smiled back at Matthew and continued eating his lunch as did Anjela, soon both of them finishing up.

Although Nathan would usually move with at least a small group of his soldiers, he decided that this time, he would go on his own. So after heading to his office and closing the door after him, he summoned a portal to the human world, and went through it to the location Anjela described.
