Romance RP

Anjela looked at Matthew and the look on his face broke her heart. She was already breaking inside despite how strong she was trying to look. Why didn't she meet Matthew earlier? Then, maybe the two of them could have had a happy, prosperous future...

She took a breath and thinking of a change of subject just to distract them, she casually said,

"Umm it-it is getting close to lunchtime. I don't really eat with the others so, um, do I make us something to eat or would you prefer to eat with them?"

Matthew replied, "I-I'd like to eat with you, if it's ok, and I can help you with lunch."

He could see that Anjela was trying to steer away from the main topic at hand, and he was a little grateful for the distraction.

Anjela nodded and replied, "Okay, I'll go make us something and it-it's ok. You can rest here. I'll make us something quickly and bring it back up here so we can eat."

She got up and put on her cloak and hood on then headed out of the room. She needed to get away from Matthew for a little time, just to recompose herself. She wanted to spend every moment possible with him before she would leave but she also had to be strong, or else her emotions would take over and her resolve would weaken.

Matthew wanted to go after Anjela, to spend more time with her, but at the same time, he didn't want to push her.  He knew that he had already broken that invisible barrier between them, and he thought it would be a good idea to give Anjela her space.

(I hope Lady Penelope talks some sense into Anjela.  XD)

(Aww I want that too although Lady Penelope says that Anjela rarely listens to her. XD)

Anjela went downstairs and headed directly to the kitchen to make lunch for herself and Matthew. Although she had passed by the others, she didn't say anything or pay them any mind. She was already lost in her thoughts anyways, thinking of what just happened between her and Matthew. They had finally said what stayed unspoken for some time now, but although it was the sweetest she had had, it didn't change anything. She couldn't let herself stay with Matthew.

Lady Penelope had seen her as she went past them and to the kitchen, and so she got up, excusing herself, saying that she would make lunch too, for everyone. Then she followed her and there, she tried talking to her, to ask what the matter was, as she felt something seemed off. As usual, however, Anjela tried to escape from her, saying that nothing was the matter.

(Awww I see.  Lady Penelope should push Anjela to talk so she gives some motherly advice.  XD)

Meanwhile, Matthew waited for Anjela.  He wanted to think of how to convince her to let go, to try to live a life with him.  He knew that pursuing this plan of revenge would only cause pain for Anjela, and he was convinced that Anjela could live a happy, full life with him.

(She will, she will. XD)

Although Anjela tried telling her that nothing was the matter, Lady Penelope knew better. Although Anjela tried to just concentrate on making lunch and paying her mom no mind, Lady Penelope pushed her to tell her what was wrong, that she was worried about her. Anjela sighed and finally told her, how she and Matthew kissed, and that their friendship had inadvertently grown into something more, something much sweeter. How Matthew said he loved her and how she returned the feelings. But although it all sounded beautiful, it wasn't to be. Anjela wasn't going to let go of her revenge.

Although Lady Penelope was quite warmed at hearing this revelation, she was also quite disappointed at her daughter's thoughts and tried to convince her to let go of that revenge, to hold on to Matthew, to the person who loved her and could grant her happiness. Anjela defiantly replied that it wasn't to be. Matthew deserved so much better. She wasn't the one for him.

She soon finished making lunch and after setting everything on a tray, she hurriedly carried it away from the kitchen and from her mom, heading back upstairs and to Matthew's room. She knocked on it and said, "I'm back, Matt."

(Yays.  XD)

Matthew heard Anjela's voice and getting up, he opened the door.  He smiled at her and said,

"Welcome back.  Lunch looks wonderful."

He stepped to the side and helped Anjela set up lunch on the table.

Anjela went into the room and set up lunch on the table with Matthew's help. She replied, "Umm I hope it tastes as good as it looks."

She waited for Matthew to take a seat and so did she, sitting across from him. She forgot to remove her hood, partly because she was still feeling distracted, but also because perhaps unconsciously, she didn't want Matthew to see her rosy cheeks and the flustered look on her face.

After Matthew sat down, he was about to eat but then he noticed the hood on Anjela's head.  He said,

"You know it's just us two, right?  Unless you'd rather that I not see your face?"

He looked at her curiously.

Anjela was a bit surprised and noticing that she really still had her hood on, she quickly removed it, casting a spell to make her whole cloak disappear. She smiled a bit and replied,

"Sorry. I forgot it actually. I wouldn't want to hide my face from you and you've already seen too much of it by now."

She did feel her cheeks quite warm and hoped it didn't show on her face but they really made her cheeks quite rosy.

Matthew smiled warmly at Anjela and replied, "I'll never get tired of seeing your face."

He admired how beautiful Anjela looked and how her cheeks were rosy.

Anjela blushed even a bit deeper and almost shyly, she replied,

"Umm thanks, Matt. So, um, why don't you taste the food and tell me how it is? I can definitely cook better here than the simple things I used to make back in the forest."

Matthew nodded happily and taking his fork, he took a bite of his food.  He then smiled and said,

"This is very delicious.  It's quite tasty."

He gazed on happily into Anjela's eyes.

Anjela smiled softly and replied,

"I'm glad you like it."

She couldn't help but gaze back fondly at him then started to eat her food as well, unable to help how warm and happy she felt just because she was with Matthew.

Matthew ate happily with Anjela, just enjoying spending time with her.  As he ate, he would cast occasional glances at her and his cheeks would heat up, just being in her presence.

Anjela continued eating as well and she would notice the occasional glances Matthew would give her. She couldn't help but smile a bit and she would blush. She knew she was giving in to her feelings but part of her told her it was okay. She could enjoy the time she had left with him, enjoy these feelings of warmth and love.

(Curious but I came across this song recently, Rewrite the stars. It's almost as though Matthew and Anjela are singing to each other albeit with some differences. XD)

(Awww I can see that.  XD)

Matthew commented, "Your cooking is wonderful, Anjela.  My cooking truly pales in comparison to yours."

(Random comment but I ended up quitting the volunteer editing I was doing for the site.  I made it official and all.  There were lots of reasons but work was a huge one.  I didn't want to be stressed about doing something that I wasn't getting anything in return so yeah.  ^^)

(Aww I see. I think that's for the best too. This way you get more time to focus on work and all and less things to stress about. ^^)

Anjela smiled and replied, "Thanks, Matt. Your cooking is great too though. I've gotten to taste it more than once and it was always very delicious."

She continued eating her food, enjoying Matthew's company.

(Yup, that's true.  I'm just continuing to get more editing work although at the moment, I'm only working on Caffeine and one other VN.  But still, with my day job and personal life, I'm pretty busy as it is so yeah.  ^^)

Matthew smiled warmly at Anjela and replied, "Thanks, Anjela."

He thought of a light-hearted topic and asked, "Can you cook a variety of dishes or do you specialize in a few?"

(Yup, I totally understand. ^^)

Anjela smiled a bit and replied, "I know a variety. I was married for some time, you know, so I know how to run a house and do house chores. Cooking is what I do best in a house actually. But I guess I might have a best dish? Mom says she eats the best baked pasta from me."

Matthew looked curiously at Anjela and replied, "Baked pasta?  I'd really love to try some.  And yup, I confirmed it.  You're a better cook than me.  Obviously, you've had a taste of my cooking although I only make a few good dishes."

Anjela chuckled a bit and replied,

"Hey, I think it's just more that I had to practice more. And really, it isn't like you have to learn how to be excellent at cooking. I think it's more important to concentrate on your healing magic and medicine. Now that's what you do best."

She smiled fondly at him.

Matthew blushed and replied, "Thanks, Anjela."

He looked down and then said, "I-I'm really glad that I got to help you all the times that I did.  You're worth it always."

Anjela blushed at this and pausing in eating, she was silent for a moment then smiling softly, she replied,

"I-I owe it to you that I am right here now, alive and well. You've saved my life more than once, and you went through so much for that. I-I've never felt as safe or secure as I do when I am with you, Matt. Thank you for everything and I-I'll be forever grateful to you. I'll never forget what you did for me."
