Alex smiled warmly at Lycoris and replied, "A husband and wife make decisions together.  That's what Mom and Dad always taught me.  And yes, I certainly have no problems staying for a couple of hours.  We'll have plenty of time to make it back."

Edward replied, "That's wonderful."

Matthew replied, "Me, too.  Let's not stay here any more than necessary."

The two of them continued to walk up the hill.

Lycoris nodded happily to Alex, promising to keep that in mind. She remembered something else and looking towards him, she said, 

"Umm Alex, before we make it back to the vacation home, is it possible to stop by Matthew's house? I want to see Olivia. She used to take care of me when I stayed at his house and she was very kind and nice to me. I want to check on her, see how she is. I miss her very much."

The two continued climbing uphill and soon enough, they were able to make it at the top. Anjela made it first and then extended her hand to Matthew to help him up as well. It wasn't a very high hill but the view was breathtaking from up there, as the forests looked quite beautiful from above, despite the dangers that lured inside.

Alex nodded and replied, "Yes, of course, my angel.  I'm sure Olivia would be happy to see you, too."

Eleanor looked thoughtful and said, "Olivia?  She's the nice lady who works as a senior maid at Matthew's place, right?"

Matthew held Anjela's hand and gazed at the view before them.  He thought it was quite beautiful and breathtaking as well, and it was rare to just enjoy the sights before them.

Lycoris smiled softly and nodding to Eleanor, she said, "That's right, mom. She is a very kind woman. Matthew had entrusted me to her care when I was staying at his home for a while. And her daughter is very nice too. Her name is Helena."

She furrowed her eyebrows and suddenly remembering something, her eyes widened in shock as she said, "Helena...she-she was with Nerine. We never knew what happened to her. Did-did she make it back? Is she still hostage?"

She suddenly looked worried and fearful for Helena's sake.

Anjela glanced at the view before them as well and couldn't help but comment, 

"In other circumstances and in another place, it would have been nice to just stay here and enjoy the view. But things down there aren't as beautiful as up here."

Alex furrowed his eyebrows as well and replied, "That's right.  We don't know what happened to Helena."

Edward replied, "Helena-Olivia's daughter.  I've seen her at times although not recently."

Eleanor said, "Then we'll go visit Olivia and talk to her.  I'm sure she'll know if Helena is all right."

Matthew replied, "Yes, that's true.  If we hadn't encountered all those dangers that we did, I'd think this would be a peaceful place.  But it's anything but that, isn't it?"

Lycoris nodded and unable to contain her worry, she said, 

"I-I am sorry but is-is it ok if we go as soon as possible? I am worried about her. Helena was kidnapped with Nerine and I-I'd hate to think that Helena may be still in danger because-because of me..."

Anjela replied, "Heh, yeah. I haven't encountered that many dangers as I did in this place."

She took a breath then said, "Let's make it down on the other side. We should make the best of our time."

Eleanor nodded and replied, "Yes, of course.  We can leave right now if you wish.  We may as well visit Matthew's dad, too, while we're at it."

Matthew nodded and replied, "Agreed.  It's best that we make as much headway today as possible."

He then began the walk down the opposite side of the hill with Anjela.

Lycoris nodded and replied, "Yes, yes, please. I'd like to make sure they are all ok. I-I think Matt isn't home though. If I recall correctly..."

She remembered that he said he and the shapeshifter would be away for a while although she didn't recall the exact details, as she was too sad and down to care at that time.

Anjela walked downhill with Matthew and for most part, things were pretty peaceful on their journey downhill. They soon made it to the base but as they turned to face the forest and path forward, there was an unpleasant surprise for them.

A large group of about 8 monsters: they looked like soldiers but they had the heads and tails of rats. They were dressed in armor and carried sharp, long swords and looked menacingly at the couple. They surrounded them, with their backs to the hill and the monsters in front.

Edward nodded and replied, "Ok, let's go then.  Let's go get a carriage prepared."

He gestured to a butler to have a carriage ready to take them to Matthew's house right away.

Matthew groaned and sarcastically said, "Well, this is certainly fair.  Heh, I know an easy way to get past this although it may be a coward's option."

Lycoris replied, "Thank you very much, mom, dad. I am really sorry to trouble you with this. I would just like to make sure that Helena is ok. If-if she isn't, then poor Olivia must be so worried..."

Anjela furrowed her eyebrows and as she took a fighting stance, she replied, 

"I'm willing to hear it although I don't like the idea of looking like cowards. I certainly am not one and I don't take you for one either."

Eleanor nodded and replied, "Yes, of course, sweetie.  We understand your worries."

Edward nodded and added, "That's right.  The carriage should be ready any minute.  Let's head out the front and then get in."

Alex held Lycoris' arm and escorted her, while Edward escorted Eleanor as they all headed to the front of the house to wait for the carriage.

Matthew replied, "Of course I'm not but it is exhausting having to fight one enemy after another.  but in case you were curious to hear my idea, we could simply fly over them.  They're land creatures and they wouldn't be able to catch us from the air.  But if you prefer, I suppose a fight it is."

Lycoris held to Alex's arm and followed the party as they made it to the front of the house to wait for the carriage. She hoped that somehow, their worries would be soothed and Helena would turn out to be ok.

Although Anjela didn't like the idea of running away, she agreed that they would be exhausting their energy by another fight, especially that they were outnumbered. Smirking a bit, she said,

"Heh, you're getting used to this. Well then, hop on."

She took a breath then a bright light surrounded her and she took her pegasus form. She waited for Matthew to get on then took off to the air as quickly as possible.

Alex gently patted Lycoris' arm, silently telling her that it would be ok.  The carriage did arrive soon after, and Edward helped both Lycoris and Eleanor inside.  Then he and Alex entered, and Edward ordered the driver to head towards Matthew's place right away.

Matthew got on the pegasus form of Anjela and held on as she flew them high into the sky, out of the monsters' reach.

Lycoris followed the party inside and as she sat by Alex's side, she kept holding to Alex's hand for comfort. She quietly murmured, 

"I-I'll feel terrible if anything turns out to have happened to her..."

Anjela flew as high as possible from the monsters and away from them. She was making good progress and they were almost out of reach, but all of a sudden, a couple of swords had been shot right at her, stabbing her deep into her downside and right side. She whinnied a scream in pain and her flying became unsteady, although she tried to hold it up just until they made it away from the monsters.

(No, I will certainly not kill Anjela although yeah, this is a serious injury. XD)

Alex gently squeezed Lycoris' hand and said, "Hey, let's not think the worst yet.  It's very likely that Helena is safe and ok.  She may not have been able to contact us and that is understandable since we've all been in hiding."

Eleanor nodded and replied, "Yes, Alex is right, sweetie.  Let's just find out for sure first."

Matthew gritted his teeth and he even tried to treat Anjela's injury, despite that they were still getting away from the monsters.  He said,

"Hang on.  I'll try to treat you but we need to land somewhere safely for it to be easier."

Lycoris nodded and taking a breath, she replied, 

"I really hope so. I would never forgive myself if something happened to her from under that captain's head. He was after me yet others are always hurt instead."

She hanged her head down, feeling ashamed.

Anjela didn't respond, but only whinnied weakly. There were stains of blood covering her white pegasus form, yet she continued to fly unsteadily just to get away from the monsters first. She was eventually able to get a safe distance away but by then, she had completely exhausted herself and couldn't land properly, collapsing to the ground.

Eleanor gently patted Lycoris' hands and the carriage driver continued to make his way towards Matthew's house.  Soon, the party arrived in front of the house and Edward helped Lycoris and Eleanor get out.  

After everyone was out of the carriage, Edward went ahead to knock on the door and was soon greeted by a butler.  The butler escorted the party into the living room.

Matthew immediately got off as they landed on the ground and without wasting a second, he set to work on treating Anjela's injury.  He looked at her gently and said, "Just stay still.  Let me treat this first while you're in this form."

He got out his medical supplies to stop the bleeding and sterilize and such.

Lycoris followed the party inside the house and took a seat as they all waited in the living room. She prayed inwardly that everything would turn out to be ok.

Anjela did her best to retain her pegasus form as Matthew treated her although it was hard to, as she had to be conscious and she was slowly drifting out. After Matthew had almost treated her first wound, she couldn't retain it any longer and she slowly regained her true form. The wounds appeared on her abdomen and right side, and she weakly murmured,

"I-I am sorry. I couldn't keep it up..."

The butler returned a few minutes later with Olivia.  Olivia turned to the party and smiling, she said,

"Hello, everyone.  The master is away on work so I'm the only one in charge here..."

She noticed Lycoris and immediately approaching her, she happily said,

"Lycoris, it's so wonderful to see you.  I was so worried."

Matthew shook his head and replied, "It's ok.  I can actually see the wounds easier this way.  Now stay still while I treat you."

He continued to treat the wound that he had been working on, and after bandaging it up, he began to treat Anjela's other wounds.  Fortunately, he was able to stop the bleeding although he could see how weak Anjela was.

Lycoris couldn't help but smile warmly as she heard Olivia's voice and as she approached her, she got up and wrapped her arms around her waist, hugging her warmly. She said, 

"Oh Oliva, I missed you so much. I am sorry you didn't hear from me in so long."

Anjela didn't move as Matthew treated her wounds although she would weakly groan in pain as the wounds hurt. She was making an effort to stay conscious, as she had lost quite a bit of blood during the time she kept flying away. Doing her best to stay awake, she weakly mumbled, sarcastically,

"Heh, this is how the coward's option ends like, huh..."

Olivia shook her head and replied, "It's ok.  I was so worried, though.  All of you had just up and disappeared and we didn't hear anything."

Alex added, "I am sorry about that.  It was for Lycoris' safety that we had to remain hidden."

Matthew couldn't help but frown a bit and replied, "You're going to be fine although you are going to be weak for the time being."

He handed Anjela a bottle of water and said, "Here, drink this.  You'll recover although we are going to have to not move for the time being."

Lycoris looked apologetically at Olivia and replied, 

"Yes, I am so sorry. Things just went so wrong. I wish I had contacted you earlier but really, things were very messy."

She paused then tentatively, she asked, "Helena, did she make it back...?"

Anjela reached out weakly to take the bottle of water from Matthew and sipped just a bit of it. She took a breath and lying down again, she said, 

"Is-is there no way to treat this faster? We-we can't afford a delay..."

She was saying this despite how weak she felt, to the point she was hardly staying conscious.

Olivia nodded happily and replied, "Oh yes, Helena is fine.  I saw her a while back.  She's actually married now.  She met this really nice young man in the gods' world when she was there."

Eleanor looked surprised and replied, "Really?  That is a surprise-a pleasant one, though."

Matthew frowned and replied, "I know what you're thinking and we're not moving out again soon.  You need to rest.  You lost a lot of blood from those attacks."

He continued to treat Anjela's wounds.  Fortunately, he was able to stop the bleeding and he bandaged her with lots of gauze.  He took a breath and then said,

"I think I'm going to have to use healing magic to ensure that these wounds heal well although you need to stay still, ok?"

Lycoris was surprised as well, but it was a huge relief to know that Helena was well and that she was married too. Something didn't make sense but anyhow, she smiled with relief and said, 

"Oh thank goodness. I was so worried but I am happy for her now. So the captain did let her go. I am surprised but I am happy in the same time."

Anjela nodded weakly and didn't say anything, letting Matthew do his work and hoping she would recover quickly.

Olivia nodded and replied, "Oh yes, Helena is fine.  I'm sure she would have contacted you all if she could but like me, she had no idea where you all were.  But she did make sure to contact me as soon as she could.  I know how much you must miss her, Lycoris.  If you'd like, I could pass on any messages you'd like to give her."

Matthew took a deep breath and closing his eyes, he performed a major healing spell, ensuring that Anjela's wounds would heal faster, speeding up the time to do so.  Once he was done, he let out a breath and said,

"I'm all done.  You just lie down for the time being.  I should get you some food.  It'll help give you strength."
