Romance RP

Ryan knew that he had to go after Lisianthus, at least to apologize for upsetting her, if nothing else.  Turning to Duchess Irene, he asked,

"Duchess Irene, can you look after Lycoris for a few minutes?  I-I need to go after Sia."

(Man, I want to continue but it's getting late here and I need my sleep.  lol  I'll come back tomorrow and post some more.  Nite, nite, Love.  ^^)

Irene nodded and replied, "Sure, go ahead."

She went closer to Lycoris' side, who was really upset and worried by everything that was happening.

Meanwhile, Lisianthus had gone into the cell, upset and angry. Ryan was her strength and hope to go on yet he, too, was ready to abandon her like that? And for who, for some worthless traitors?

She turned to look at them, hate and anger in her eyes, and in her hands she summoned her sword, ready to take her revenge.

Ryan rushed out to follow Lisianthus and soon saw her in the cell, her sword in her hand, ready to attack the soldiers.  Immediately, he ran to her and putting his arms tightly around her, he cried softly into her shoulder and said,

"I'm sorry, beautiful.  I'm so sorry.  Please..."

Lisianthus was surprised as she felt Ryan put his arms around her and cry softly on her shoulder. It took her a moment to take her breathes, as though she was trying to calm her anger although it was difficult. Turning to Ryan slowly with a look of both sadness and anger, she quietly said,

"How could you? You want to leave me for those? They don't deserve this. I don't deserve this."

Her grip tightened over her sword, both in anger and determination.

Ryan did his best to calm down and once he felt that he was relatively calm, he looked into Lisianthus' eyes and replied,

"You're right.  They don't deserve mercy and you didn't deserve to be hurt like that.  I'm so sorry I said such things just now.  I wasn't trying to hurt you.  I was trying to save you."

Lisianthus felt a little calmer as she heard Ryan agree with her for the first time but she then felt confused by his last comment and asked,

"Save me from what?"

Ryan took a deep breath and replied, "I wanted to help you.  I know that these soldiers don't deserve any mercy.  They attacked you and tried to harm others, despite that they didn't kill anyone.  But if you go through with executing them, the people will never know what really happened.  They'll see you as something that you're not.  And you'll never be safe because the people will have the wrong impression.  I know who you are.  I've seen the beautiful, kind woman that you are and you can be that woman now towards these soldiers.  I want others to see you as I see you.  If you show them mercy, if you show them that you can forgive them despite all the wrongs they committed, then they will be in your debt.  It would be something that they wouldn't expect."

He paused, wondering if his words were getting through somehow.

(I wonder if anything can make Lisianthus change her mind about executing those soldiers.  O_O)

(Hmm I am not sure myself. O.O Lisianthus can be a completely other woman when it comes to these matters especially when she's made her mind about something.)

Lisianthus sighed in frustration as Ryan seemed to want to convince her again to forgive the soldiers, just after she thought he had let that go at last. Giving herself a moment to make her reply, as she didn't want to say something hurtful to Ryan again, she looked at him calmly but firmly and said,

"Ryan, if you believe that I am really a kind, beautiful woman, that's enough for me. I don't want others to know it if it meant that I am not going to do the right thing. Yes, this is the right thing and I'm completely convinced with it. Don't try to change my mind, please, Ryan. You don't see things as I do. You don't understand them like I do."

If you're worried about the people, I'll explain everything to them in a public statement. But I am not backing off on protecting the people I care about and punishing those who deserve it just for the people."

(Yup, I can sure see that.  O_O)

Ryan sighed and replied, "Perhaps you're right that I see things differently but isn't that a good thing?  I want to help you, beautiful.  I truly do.  I'm not saying that these soldiers shouldn't be punished but perhaps a different punishment.  You're trying to protect us and I know that especially Lycoris needs to be protected but don't you see?  Even Lycoris doesn't want these soldiers to die.  If nothing else, you can simply leave these soldiers in the dungeons under maximum security.  You don't need to do anything else."

Lisianthus was doing her best to control her patience as she replied,

"No, Ryan. You know as well as I do that there's a spy between us and a shapeshifter and god knows what else. I am through with doing nothing. I am taking action on that captain and I'm starting right now.

Please, Ryan. We already talked about this in my office in the morning and we had an agreement. I've kept my part of the agreement and you should keep yours as well. Now if you will, I prefer that you leave right now."

Ryan looked sadly into Lisianthus' eyes and quietly replied,

"If you do this, you'll only prove these soldiers right in their opinions about you.  I know that they're wrong, that the captain is wrong in what he's doing.  But you need to make them see how wrong they are.  Sparing them is a good first step.  Please spare them.  Please."

He looked sadly at Lisianthus, giving her one last pleading look.

Lisianthus stared in Ryan's eyes for a moment, then glanced at the soldiers, who had been watching all the time. After a moment of silence, she shook her head and replied,

"I can't do that, Ryan. I'm sorry. I don't care what they think of me. But I definitely care if they're alive, ready to hurt me or anyone I care about the next chance they get. We're done with this. Please leave the dungeons, Ryan."

Ryan sighed and after a moment of silence, he replied,

"There is one other way you can get what you want but without killing the soldiers."

He knew of a spell that would erase the soldiers' memories but he had been hesitant in mentioning the spell, as it would drain quite a lot of his magical power.

Lisianthus was really beginning to lose her patience but as Ryan mentioned the other way, she decided to listen to him one more time. She looked at impatiently and asked,

"And what would that be?"

Ryan took a deep breath and replied, "I can cast a spell on them that will erase their memories.  I can either erase all of their memories or certain parts of their memories.  This would certainly solve the problem, right?  If they can't remember ever being loyal to the captain, they won't go back to him.  You can make them be loyal to you again."

Lisianthus looked thoughtful as Ryan suggested the idea about erasing the soldiers' memories and nodding, she replied,

"That would do it but would their opinions of me be changed? I mean, they would forget about being loyal to the captain but they would also forget any desires to work against me?"

Ryan nodded and replied, "If you wished for those parts of their memories to be erased, I can do so.  Then it'll be easier for you to make them be loyal to you again.  Everyone would win, right?"

As he couldn't persuade Lisianthus not to kill the soldiers any other day, this was the only other option he had at his disposal.

(Hmm it's working fine for me. I think it's ok to keep going but just in case, before you submit a reply, copy it so if something happens, you don't have to write it all over again. Is that ok?)

Lisianthus was silent, pondering over Ryan's solution. Finally she nodded and replied,

"Fine then. If this spell worked, I wouldn't have to kill them any longer."

The soldiers heard Ryan's suggestion and immediately alarmed, one of them said,

"What?!! Is that how you plan to spare us?! Erase our memories and brainwash us?! No, we'd rather die than work for this cruel queen again!"

(Yup, that's fine.  ^^)

Ryan looked surprised as one of the soldiers declared that he didn't want his memories erased and he replied,

"But I can't find another way.  Please.  I don't want any of you to die."

He sighed to himself.  He didn't want to cast the spell and would have preferred to persuade Lisianthus to spare the soldiers on her own but as that wasn't happening, he didn't have another choice.

The soldier looked towards Ryan and in a calm, more peaceful tone, he said,

"Look, human. We appreciate everything that you've been doing and saying to spare our lives. Any honorable man would do. But you can't do this. You can't help her. Death is more honorable to us than working for that cruel queen again! If she wants to kill us so much, if she fears us so much, let her do what she likes. But brainwashing us isn't any better."

Lisianthus rolled her eyes and replied, "You still have the nerves to complain and protest? You should be thankful that I actually decided to give you a chance to live."

Ryan looked sadly at the soldiers and replied,

"So you would really rather die than allow me to perform this spell?  If I could find another way to spare your lives, I would do so.  I don't want there to be any more bloodshed than there already has."

Another soldier than the one who was speaking earlier said,

"There will be more bloodshed anyways! And if she doesn't kill us now, she'll always find more to kill later! No, I'd rather die than help her again in her evil works!"

The soldier nodded and replied, "I couldn't agree more. And I wouldn't stand myself if I was loyal to her again, and gods knows what else she might make me do. Don't do it, human. You'd be helping her in her evil path, nothing more."

Lisianthus growled angrily at the soldiers but she left the matter to Ryan, as she knew that it was one of two choices now: either erasing the soldiers' memories or executing them and although she still preferred the latter, she was fine with both.

Ryan turned to Lisianthus and asked, "Sia, would you please bring Lycoris and Duchess Irene here?  I think they should know what's been going on.  They're probably curious and worried."

He then turned to the soldiers and sadly asked, "So you would want me to stand by and do nothing while you're executed?  Is that really a better option than erasing your memories?"

Lisianthus sighed and replied, "Their presence will make no difference but fine."

She went outside to search for them and get them.

The soldier looked at Ryan and asked, "Would you like your memories erased one day, human, to work for your enemy? We hate that queen. And we hate her more than ever now. At least if we die, there will be hope for others to realize what she really is. We'll die heroes. That's more honorable than having us brainwashed by erasing what we truly know of her. Even if you do so, we'll know it again later-you won't solve anything."

Ryan sighed and replied, "Perhaps you're right but I know that Sia has the ability to become a better ruler.  It just won't happen overnight, though.  And as I'm not king yet, I don't have much influence to make things better.  I tried to convince her that your suggestions were good but...I guess you all know how she is.  I love her, though, but I wish she would be more open to differing opinions."
