Lycoris nodded and replied, "Ok, that sounds good. I'm all ready."

She prepared herself to listen to Ryan carefully and concentrate with him.

(Ahh I'll be off now since I have to take care of a few chores but I'll try to be back soon. See you, phoenix. ^^)

Ryan nodded and then began to explain how to cast a dark energy blast.  He explained how one could control how big or small the blast could be and then he demonstrated it, describing the feel of the spell when it was cast from the user's hands.

(Getting late here so I'll get off for the night now and get some sleep.  I'll check back tomorrow and post again.  Nite, nite, Love.  ^^)

(Nite, nite, phoenix and sorry for not coming back. Doing the chores took me longer than I thought. =\)

Lycoris listened carefully to how Ryan explained the spell and made sure to take mental notes to make sure she understood everything. Once Ryan was done with the explanation, she asked,

"Can I try it now myself?"

Ryan nodded and replied, "Sure, go ahead and try to cast a dark energy blast.  I'll watch nearby."

He took a few steps behind Lycoris and then observed her as she began to cast the spell.

Lycoris nodded and after taking a deep breath, she did her best to try and cast the spell. It took her a few tries but she was finally able to cast it correctly, summoning quite a small energy blast but controlling it and keeping it up for a while.

After Lycoris finished casting the spell, Ryan clapped his hands in delight and commented,

"That was wonderful, Lycoris.  Very well done.  You can control how big the energy blast can be.  It mostly takes concentration."

Lycoris smiled and was glad she could cast the spell correctly, replying,

"Thank you, Ryan. This one wasn't too easy but I did my best. I think it will be a very useful spell in battle."

Ryan nodded and replied, "Definitely.  Hmm, would you like to try that spell on some target practice?  I can summon some dummies but add heat signatures so you can detect them easily and you can aim the dark energy blasts towards them.  How does that sound?"

Lycoris nodded in agreement and replied, "I would like that. I would like to see how good I am at targeting."

Ryan nodded and then casting another spell, he summoned several dummies to the training room, scattering them in various areas.  He then added heat signatures to them so that Lycoris would be able to detect them.  After he was done, he took a seat next to the puppies and said,

"Ok, let's see what you got."

Lycoris took a deep breath and first, she cast the spell with which she could detect the dummies' locations. After feeling where they were, she summoned a medium-sized dark energy blast and shot it towards the first dummy, shooting it correctly.

Ryan observed and noted how well Lycoris was casting the spells and using them to target the dummies.  He was impressed that she got the first dummy accurately and waited to see how well she would do in finding the others.

After shooting the first dummy, Lycoris took a breath and casting the same spells again in the same order, she was able to shoot the rest of the dummies accurately and without much time difference between them, getting them all down in a short time.

After Lycoris finished attacking all of the dummies, Ryan got up and approaching her, he said,

"Very well done.  You got all of them quite quickly.  You could very well be ready for battle.  What do you think, boys?"

He looked to the puppies and the puppies barked happily in approval, wagging their tails.

Lycoris smiled softly and was glad that she could please Ryan with her skills. Her face turning a little serious, she asked,

"Ryan . . . Do you think I could be ready to face the captain sooner than we thought?"

Ryan wondered why Lycoris asked that question but he replied, "I do think you could be ready soon but are you in a hurry to face that captain?  He is dangerous, you know, and I've only taught you a little of the spells I know."
