Romance RP

Lisianthus looked thoughtful and replied,

"That's a good idea. We should split up. We'd have a better chance at catching them both and it would be better if each of us talked to one of them alone. Alright then, I'll see you at our room when we're done?"

Ryan nodded and replied, "Sounds good.  I'll see you back in our room after I talk to Lycoris."

He gave Lisianthus a sweet kiss and then headed towards Lycoris' room, hoping to be able to have a chat with her.

Lisianthus headed to Avi's room as well, hoping to find him awake and talk to him.

Meanwhile, Lycoris was in her room and was awake, lying down in bed as she held her teddy bear, although she wasn't in high spirits at all.

(Aww, poor Lycoris.  :/)

Ryan arrived at the door to Lycoris' room and after giving a brief, respectful nod to the soldier guarding outside, he knocked on the door and said,

"Lycoris, are you awake?  It's me, Ryan."

(Yeah. =\)

Lycoris heard Ryan's voice and although she didn't feel like talking to anyone at all, she didn't want to worry anyone and especially not Ryan, as he'd been helping her a lot lately. She sat up carefully and after doing her best to look better, she took a deep breath and replied,

"Come in, Ryan."

Ryan opened the door and entered Lycoris' room, gently closing the door behind him.  He then approached Lycoris and taking a seat in a chair beside the bed, he turned to her and gently asked,

"How are you, Lycoris?  I'm sorry we couldn't have dinner together.  I hope you weren't too lonely without us."

Lycoris did her best to smile and quietly replied,

"Oh no, it's alright. I didn't feel like going down to the dining room much myself and I had dinner here...But tell me, did you enjoy your time? How was your day?"

Truthfully, something had happened that upset her during the afternoon, and she didn't have any dinner at all, but wouldn't say so.

(O.O  I wonder if that something had to with Duke Collins.)

Ryan replied, "Sia and I went to the Four Marbles Park and we went skiing and had a snowball fight.  Bryan and Rosaline, as well as Nerine and Alex, accompanied us so we had fun."

He paused for a few moments and then gently asked, "Are you sure everything's ok?  I sense that you're feeling a bit down?"

(Yup, you guessed correctly. XD)

Lycoris quickly shook her head and replied, "I-I'm fine, really. Maybe just a little worn out. I-I practiced a lot today, to make sure that I master all the spells. I-I am glad to hear that you all had fun. Hope it will be always like this."

(I see.  I must find out about this some more.  XD)

Ryan replied, "Thanks.  Umm, Lycoris, I don't want you to be upset or anything but Sia and I figured out that Nerine probably found out about the eyesight spell.  Is this true?  I won't say anything to Nerine or anyone else about it so you can be honest with me on this."

(lol And sorry for the delay, My mum called for lunch and I couldn't let you know. XD)

Lycoris looked taken off-guard as Ryan said what he did, and for a few moments, she didn't know what to say. But quickly composing herself, she replied,

"W-What are you saying? How would she know? N-No, I-I didn't tell her."

(Ahh it's ok.  ^^)

Ryan sighed and replied, "Lycoris, please be honest with me here.  Nerine didn't say anything but Sia and I figured this out.  It's pretty obvious that Nerine had something to do with your changed behavior.  You don't seem as enthusiastic to learn the eyesight spell as before."

Lycoris was a little shaken but did her best to reply,

"That-that's not true. I-I never said I...I wasn't as excited as before for the spell. And even if it was true, Nerine would have nothing to do with it because I-I didn't tell her."

Ryan replied, "I'm not going to say anything to Nerine and she won't find out what we talked about.  But if you were telling the truth, you wouldn't be stuttering as you are now."

He had hoped that Lycoris would openly admit that Nerine had found out about the eyesight spell but as that approach had failed, he had to reveal how he could read the expression on Lycoris' face.

Ryan then continued, "Sia and I can protect you, you know.  We'll do our best to keep Nerine away from you so you don't have to be afraid to use the eyesight spell."

Lycoris didn't know what to say, as Ryan continued to persist that Nerine knew, and that Lycoris wasn't telling the truth. And he was right about everything he said-she couldn't hide anything.

Unable to say anything in reply, there were tears in her eyes that slowly trickled down and she sobbed, not finding anything to say in reply, for she couldn't deny what Ryan said any longer and in the same time, admitting it was too hard for her.

Ryan observed the tears that trickled down Lycoris' cheeks and instinctively, he approached her and wrapped his arms around her in a comforting hug.  Meanwhile, the puppies noticed Lycoris' sadness and immediately, they ran over to her to try to comfort her as well.

Lycoris couldn't help but sob her tears out, especially as she'd been locking a lot of things into herself lately. But she didn't want to lose control of herself, and after a couple of minutes, she managed to calm down and control herself. She took a deep breath and quietly said,

"Nerine...Nerine does know about this. I-I am the one who told her. But-but she's got nothing to do with me not being as excited as before for the eyesight spell."

Although this was only half-true, as Nerine was wholly responsible for discouraging Lycoris for the spell, Lycoris thought that she needed to save as much of the truth as she could.

Ryan was skeptical as Lycoris claimed that Nerine wasn't the reason for her not being eager to learn the eyesight spell.  However, he didn't think it wise to push the issue on Lycoris, as he could see how upset she was.  He replied,

"So do you still want to learn the eyesight spell?"

Lycoris was silent for a while, but as she'd thought about this before, thankfully, she had an answer. She replied slowly,

"N-No...but Nerine's got nothing to do with it. I-I thought about the matter again and...and it's not worth it. It might not work. Just like everything else didn't work. And-and I don't want to hang on to a false hope again, only to be disappointed in the end. I-I must accept that I'm blind for good and that I won't see again, without trying to change anything."

Ryan frowned and was quiet for a few moments.  He suspected that Nerine was the reason that Lycoris no longer wanted to learn the eyesight spell but knew that if he pushed for the truth, he would only hurt her again.  He took a couple of minutes and then replied,

"Lycoris, there is a very good chance that this spell will work.  My mentor was quite the genius when it came to creating new spells.  And I know that if he were here right now, he would tell you to give this spell a try.  He would want to see that all his hard work wasn't for nothing."

(Getting sleepy here and I have work tomorrow so I'll get off for the night now.  I'll post again tomorrow after I get back and all.  Nite, nite, Love.  ^^)

Lycoris took a deep breath and replied,

"You-you said it yourself. It's only a try, a chance. It could work or it could not. I-I don't want to want give this another 'try.' Even if there's a very good chance for it working, there's also a chance for it not working in the end. I-I don't want to be disappointed again, Ryan. I-I won't take in another heartbreak."

Ryan sighed and replied, "If I didn't know any better, I'd think that Nerine is somehow influencing you to go against trying out this spell.  There's no other explanation for your sudden change of opinion.  And perhaps it's mean of me to say this but I think it's a bit selfish on her part not to want to see you happy."

Lycoris frowned slightly and determined not to let Ryan know about Nerine, she replied,

"No, no. Nerine has got nothing to do with this. And-and don't talk about her like that. She's my sister and she...she would like to see me happy. I-I am the one who thought about this again and I changed my mind. That's all."

Ryan examined Lycoris closely, not believing her words over defending Nerine.  He was still convinced that Nerine was somehow behind Lycoris' change of mind but he didn't know how to get Lycoris to admit to the truth.

Sighing, he replied,

"You know that there's no need to be afraid, right?  If you'd only just open up to us, we can protect you.  We're already making sure that captain won't get anywhere near you and we can do the same for anyone else who's endangering you."

Although Lycoris inwardly wanted to tell the truth, for somehow it could protect her from Nerine's abuse and harsh words. But she couldn't, for she felt it would be a kind of betrayal for Nerine, if she spoke against her and said everything.

She remained quiet for a bit, then as calmly as she could, she replied,

"I-I don't understand why you insist that Nerine is hurting me. Nothing of that is true. I-I can't believe you're comparing her to the captain."
