Future RPs?

Hi all,

I was thinking about this for a while and I would like to ask you what kinds of RPs you would be interested in participating. We have quite a few RPs going on now, which I'm happy to see. But of course, there's room for more.

I know that some of these RPs may not interest members so I'd like the opportunity to provide variety. So far, we have adventure (mixed in with some romance), magical, and now a mystery RP. I think we have a horror one as well but I'm not entirely sure on that since I don't participate in that one.

Anyway, I'd like to hear your thoughts on what kinds of RPs you'd like to see here. I'm thinking of creating at least a sci-fi and action (sort of like James Bond but less to the extreme) RPs but beyond that, I'm not sure what other types there are out there. I can at least get these started but I'm not sure how often I can participate in them, since I am participating in quite a few RPs here as well as busy taking care of other things on the forum and other stuff going on real life.

So please say the word on what you'd like to see here.

well as i have seen so far, the RP's here are a bit too fantasy and power like. why don't we try a horror type kind of no power RP, like (Silent Hill)(Resident Evil)(Land of the Dead) kind of RP's were some character can also die, some of the RP's here all the characters are invincible no drama of a friend or a boyfriend\girlfriend dieing or sort of like that.

I agree about the abundance of powery-fantasy types. Its not so much the powers, but the strength of them.

As well, the post count is just too much for me. I've gotten lost in the RP I was going into, and I don't really think it's possible for me to catch up. People start doing something, and then there really seems to be no entrance, at least to me, but that sould just be me.

But This type of RP forum, I'm not used to.
When I RP'd in the past, RPs were subforums, and people would start plot threads which would either be open, or invitational(for specific people to do specific things unless otherwise noted.) It allowed for people to take their time, or do their own thing within an RP, without worrying about disrupting the current plotline, etc. This is something I think would be really beneficial for any RP. This way people can concive their ownsubplots more accessibly and easily, while the main plot moves forward.

Hmm, that sounds like an interesting idea for a RP. I'm not really into horror stuff, though, so I have no idea how I'd make a RP thread for it. But if you'd like to take the initiative and start it up, that would be great.

Hmm, I see. Well, I agree that the RPs here are pretty difficult to catch up on. I did just start a new RP (Mystery of the Golden Chalice) hoping that new members would join and it wouldn't be difficult to catch up on it. But maybe if you can give us an example or even start a RP thread where you describe the characteristics of RPs you're used to, I can certainly take a look at it to understand better.

I have been thinking of creating anime-based RPs but that would require that members have some sort of familiarity on what the RPs are about. But what does everyone think of the idea?

yeah sure since its some kind of zombie thingy,hmmmm oh how about CasketHill (i got the name from Aveyond 2) that will be a good name.

Might I make a suggestion as to the name? I think we should avoid names that are from games, etc. I'm not entirely sure on this but because of the copyright issues and all, we don't have permission to use those names. It's nitpicky, I know, but I want to be sure that everything is above board here.

Yup, that sounds good. I look forward to see what this RP will like although I'm not sure if I'll participate yet (simply because I'm busy and already in so many RPs as it is lol).

well, what about me, im in almost all RP and has many characters. and still has school, and many more but i can still keep up.

An example would be like

Psychic Children RPG (Subforum)

A strange power appears in chidren's hearts (Main Plot) (Thread by Member A)
People would post in this thread as the main RP, basically this thread is like all the other RP threads in terms of story. This follows the main plot as the characters interact with it. Once this plotline is completed, another main plotline will be created.

training your mental powers (Open) (Thread by Member B)
exploring the town (Open) (Thread by Member C)
These are subplot threads where people could RP away from the main story, while inside the same world. Anyone is allowed to come and participate with this subplot. These threads are usually a lot smaller than the main plot, these usually take place during the main plot but out of sight.

Hunting down the psychic vampire (Invitational)
This is a specific subplot organized by certain members of the RP, where they have an idea for a subplot, and want to go with it. So say Member A and Member C want to interact in a certain way, without Member B or D in this particular scene. These are usually as long, or shorter than the Open subplots.

Basically, if you want to look at it like an anime or a manga, each main plotline is like a story arc. So if there were to be a Sailor Moon RP, The first main plot thread would be the original manga arc, the second would be R, etc. The Open threads would be like filler episodes, where nothing effecting the main plot happens, but the characters themselves may interact and grow. Invitiational threads would be like character specific episodes, like maybe a thread where Ami and Minako run into a youma by themselves.

This would look like:
Sailor Moon RP (Subforum)
Alan and Ann Appear! (Main Plot 2)
Fighting the Black Moon Kingdom (Main Plot)(Closed)
Usagi and Naru go shopping (Invitational)
A Youma appears downtown! (Open)(Closed)
Going to the Shinto Shrine (Open)
Rei and Mako are attacked by Kunzite (Invitational)(Closed)


Because these RPs get so big so fast, I think a format like this would suit them. For smaller RPs, a single thread format should be fine, but for ones that go into 10 pages in a week or more, a more organized open structure like the above would really help things move along. It also allows members of the RP more easily do their own thing in the RP world, instead of follow the main plot, if they want to go of and do something else for awhile, without interupting the people going forward with the main plot.



Also: As for using game/anime names as thread titles, or as a basis for an RP, I think it's under the fair use clause. Because most anime forums with RPs have anime and game based RPs. So long as you aren't making money off it, it's basically fine.

I like the idea of an anime-based RP. But I guess we will have to choose a simple anime? Like SHUFFLE! for example. It has an easy story and anyone can play if he/she reads the story. We can post the characters and their bios and all and people can choose to take one or make his/her own.

I can take care of it if possible. ^^

I think anime RPs would be great, since thats what im used to anyway =3

yeah great idea love, Shuffle kind of RP problem is who will fill up the other girls since many of the characters are all girls and few is the guys.

ok so change of plans, me and Aya have been talking for a while via PM and suddenly ended up on favorite TV show topic then while talking a idea came to my head, why don't we try a TV show RP so i decided to make an RP based on the TV show Heroes, the same plot the same villian and the same or new characters will be played. i think everyone knows about it. if not i will make an RP thread and put everything in there. if anyone wants to play the original cast just PM me if not i will post the character sheet soon.

0o0oh ok so thats why you said that Elwood RP will be canceled. your planning on making a Heroes RP, i really like that show so i think the RP will be great too. but don't you think a different plot will be good?

I like the idea of a Heroes RP and I'm familiar with the show. I've only watched up to the end of season 2, though, since the series shows here later than in the US. Anyway, I'll PM you with the character I'd like to take on.

so, you can take on original characters? or can you make a new one?

you can do both, if you like anyone then you can use them,a new character is great too. original characters that aren't pick will be gone others will be NPC. oh if you make a new character it needs to be a appearance of a real person.
