(Ahh no problem, take your time. XD)

Lycoris smiled a little and replied,

"I believe in you and I know you can do it."

She paused then said, "We should return to the others. I want to spend as much time as possible with Mom and Dad."

Irene replied sadly,

But it's still a risk. I know you are worried about Lisianthus' reaction if we tell her but at least, wouldn't it be guaranteed that we'd be able to save her, instead of going through a very weak possibility?

Alex nodded and replied, "Of course.  I know they'll want to spend as much time with you as they can."

He got up and after helping Lycoris to her feet, he gently held her arm and escorted her downstairs to the living room.

Ryan sighed and replied, 

You're right but Lycoris wants to do this because she wants to save the devils' world.  If there is no other way and Lycoris' heart is set on this, wouldn't it be wrong of me to stop her?  I-I don't want her to die but I can't force her into my or someone else's idea of happiness.

The party was quietly chatting when they saw the couple return, and Lady Penelope smiled at them and said,

"Welcome back, dears. Did everything go well?"

Irene replied,

But isn't she being forced into this as well? Well, not literally forced, but isn't the shapeshifter using Lycoris' kindness, emotional weakness and, if I may say, her being naive, to make her sacrifice herself like this? I don't know but personally, Ryan, I don't believe that anyone should have to sacrifice their life like that.

Alex nodded and replied, "Ahh yes, we've just finished and all."

As he helped Lycoris into a seat on the sofa, Eleanor approached her and hugging her, she said,

"I'm going to spend every moment with you, sweetie.  I love my daughter so very much."

Ryan replied,

I agree but what else can we do?  Unless there actually is another way to save the devils' world, Lycoris will go through with sacrificing her powers.  That miracle could still happen but I have to get to her to do so.

Lycoris returned Eleanor's hug gently and smiling softly, she replied,

"I want to spend every moment with you as well, mom. I am going to miss you so very much."

Irene replied,

The decision is yours in the end, Ryan, but if I were in your shoes, I would have told Lisianthus as soon as possible about their location. She'd send her soldiers and might even go herself to get her back. I know she would be angry at you and at me as well but...that could be resolved eventually. If you lose Lycoris, however, regretting it will never bring her back. But the choice is yours. If you want me to help you reach her without telling anyone, I will.

Eleanor gently stroked Lycoris' hair and tearfully replied, "Me, too.  Having my daughter here has meant so very much to me."

Edward patted Lycoris' head and added, "It won't be the same without you."

Ryan replied,

If I tell Sia, would she really force Lycoris to go back?  I do want to tell her but just so I can reach Lycoris.  I don't think it's a good idea for Lycoris to deal with such a confrontation...

Lycoris smiled softly and felt touched with all this care. She replied quietly,

"Thank you, mom and dad for everything. You've really granted me a lot of happiness just by your presence by my side for this short while."

Irene replied,

Yes, I believe she would but...I know you would be worried about Lycoris but the important thing would be getting her out of there, right?

(Random but I always get annoyed when I forget to save and then when I mess up on a decision, I have to go back from an old save file.  O.O)

Eleanor continued to hug Lycoris and replied, "You've been such a huge part of our lives, sweetie.  We'll never forget you.  I promise.  You are my daughter, after all."

Ryan replied,

Maybe...I feel so conflicted, though.  I want to respect Lycoris' wishes and yet save her at the same time.  But it seems that those ideas clash.

(Ahh yup, I know how that feels. At many times, I'd have to take a break from the game or something for a while so I can go again through the old save file. XD)

Lycoris replied softly,

"Thanks, mom. I feel happy and satisfied just knowing that. And-and Nerine will be able to return soon and she is your daughter as well, right, mom?"

Irene replied,

I've told you what I think, Ryan. The decision is yours to make. Think carefully but I will help you no matter what you choose.

(I see.  XD)

Eleanor nodded and replied, "Of course.  Both of you are my daughters and are very special to me.  I-I know we probably won't be able to spend more time together after today but do you have any special requests?  Edward and I will do our best to make them happen."

Ryan replied,

I'll do so.  Thank you.  I know I have to do something soon.  I can't wait any longer.

Lycoris shook her head and smiling happily, she said,

"Nothing. I just want to spend the rest of the time with you all. That's enough to make me happy for today."

Irene replied,

As you wish, Ryan. Think carefully and let me know of your decision.

Eleanor nodded and replied, "Of course, sweetie.  We're not leaving you, ok?  Nothing makes me happier than to spend time with you."

Ryan replied,

I will.  I should go see Sia now before she realizes that I've been gone too long.  And oh, I guess I should let you know that we suspect that Duke Collins leaked out the information about the shapeshifter escaping although he won't admit to it.  But he'd have no choice if you used a truth spell on him.


(Getting sleepy here so I'll get off for the night now and go to sleep.  I'll check back tomorrow and post again.  Nite, nite, Love.  ^^)

Lycoris smiled softly and continued enjoying the rest of the morning with Eleanor and Edward as well as everyone else.

Irene sighed inwardly and replied,

Good thinking. We will have to take care of that. I had a feeling Duke Collins would be responsible. That man needs to stay away for a while.

As Edward and Eleanor spent time with Lycoris, Alex felt depressed.  He thought it was too hasty of a decision for Lycoris to sacrifice her powers tonight although he had no ideas of what to do to get her to change her mind.

Ryan replied,

I agree.  Sia believes that once Duke Collins confesses, she can order him to be sent away.  That should be the best solution to minimize any further damage.

The shapeshifter was sitting quietly in the room but she observed Alex and could guess what he was thinking. Telepathically, she communicated with him,

I know you don't agree to this but you knew this day was eventually coming, didn't you?

Irene replied,

That's true. In the middle of all this mess, Duke Collins' is unnecessary, to say the least. It's best that he's sent away at least for now.

(Ahh I'll be heading to college in a bit so I won't be able to post for the day and all. ^^ Today is the first day of my final exams and everything. XD I will post when I return of course. ^^ See you later, phoenix. ^^)

Alex looked to the shapeshifter and replied,

Of course but I didn't think it would be so soon.  I may be bold in saying so but I think this is a hasty decision just because Ryan found out some things.

Ryan replied,

I agree.  We don't need any more problems to complicate the ones we already have.

(Ahh I am back earlier than I thought so I will post when I can. XD)

The shapeshifter sighed inwardly and replied,

And how is this a hasty decision? It's not like it would make any difference whether we take Lycoris' powers now or later. The only reason why we were waiting was that chocolate festival, and I don't think it's worth wasting all our hard work and putting everyone in danger.

Irene replied,

That's true. Well then, I should resume my work here but contact me when you come to a decision.

(Ahh nice.  XD)

Alex didn't reply but he could help and frowned sadly at the shapeshifter.  It was as though mentioning the chocolate festival was a petty reason and it hurt Alex a bit.

Ryan replied,

I will.  I should go see Sia now before she wonders what's taking me so long.

The shapeshifter could guess that she hurt Alex with her comment and sighing, she said,

Listen, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that waiting for the chocolate festival wasn't a good enough reason and I originally agreed to wait until that time. But the circumstances changed. Things became more dangerous than before and there's Lycoris' other self too.

Irene replied,

Alright. I will be waiting for you to contact me again then. Talk to you later.

Alex looked confused and replied,

But her other self hasn't tried to make an appearance and wouldn't speeding up this process force her to come out more quickly?  What if we're doing more harm than good?

Ryan replied,

Ok, I'll talk to you soon.


He then shut off the telepathy and after taking a deep breath, he got up and left Lisianthus' office, heading to the throne room.

The shapeshifter replied,

How would we be doing more harm than good? And I won't wait until her other self makes an appearance. But there's no more of that elixir and she's bound to show up eventually.

Lisianthus was in the throne room, taking care of various meetings with different officials and such. The news weren't so happy however, as the people were happy with the chancellor's escape and wanted to take advantage of it.

Alex replied,

She must be aware by now that Lycoris is planning on sacrificing herself tonight so don't you think her other self will try to stop that from happening?

Ryan arrived in the throne room and he observed that Lisianthus was in the best of moods.  He took a seat and observed, waiting until he was noticed.

The shapeshifter replied,

Not if we act quickly. After dinner tonight, we'll head immediately to the devils' world and finish things quickly. Until then, if anything decides to get out of hand, I can depend on you to calm things down, can't I?

Lisianthus noticed Ryan's presence and gave him a little smile but resumed her work until the last official was gone. As they were alone for a bit, she turned to him and asked,

"How did things go with Irene?"

Alex replied,

Yes, I'll take care of any potential problems but I still don't like this idea.  I just feel as though something's going to go wrong.

Ryan approached Lisianthus and replied, "It went ok.  I told Duchess Irene about the trouble Duke Collins was causing and she agrees with your solution for dealing with him.  When she gets back, she'll perform that truth spell on him and then he'll be dealt with.

How are things here?"

The shapeshifter replied,

Nothing will go wrong if we're careful. You're only feeling this way because you're going to lose her...I'm sorry about that, by the way. I truly hope that miracle will work out, truly. I wouldn't want Lycoris to be harmed if I could help it.

Lisianthus sighed sadly and after a few moments of silence and hesitation she replied,

"Don't mind it. There are some troubles but I am taking care of it."

She thought that Ryan had enough to worry about and didn't want to burden him with her worries as well.
