Matthew nodded happily and replied, "Sure, orange juice sounds great."

The fruit had been peeled and cut into bite sized pieces and then Matthew used a bowl and spoon to mix the ingredients together.

Meanwhile, Lady Penelope started preparing the orange juice, cutting up the oranges and turning them into fresh, delicious juice. Lycoris waited happily meanwhile, looking forward to the snack.

Matthew finished making the fruit salad and placed sizeable servings into small bowls.  He then handed a bowl to each along with a spoon and said,

"All done.  It looks delicious and I'm sure it'll taste delicious, too."

Lycoris took her bowl from Matthew and replied excitedly, "I am sure it does. I can't wait to try it out."

Lady Penelope was soon all finished with preparing the orange juice as well and after pouring it into glasses, she said, "And the juice is all ready as well and all fresh."

Matthew grinned and replied, "The perfect afternoon snack.  Let's eat."

He took his spoon and began to eat his salad, which was very fresh and tasty indeed.

(Sorry for the long delay. Had to have lunch and all. ^^)

Lycoris started to eat her salad as well and after taking the first bite, she happily said,

"Yum. This is really, really delicious. I love how fresh and sweet it is."

(Ahh no worries.  Welcome back.  ^^)

Matthew replied, "Me, too."

He took a sip of his orange juice and added, "And the orange juice that Lady Penelope made is absolutely delicious."

Lady Penelope replied happily, "Aww thanks, darling. The fruit salad is especially sweet. It is great when all the fruits used are fresh."

Lycoris commented, "Matt's touch is important, too. He is good at this."

Matthew blushed and replied, "Awww thanks, you two.  I heard that food is especially delicious when there's a lot of love and care put into it.  I wonder if that's true.  What do you think, my lady?"

He looked to Lady Penelope for her reply.

Lady Penelope nodded happily and winking at Matthew, she said,

"I totally agree there. But hmm, I wonder if that means that you put a lot of love and care in the fruit salad just now?"

Her look was meaningful and playful.

Matthew blushed deeper and replied, "Ahh well, I just meant that I put a lot of thought into it.  I wanted it to be as delicious as possible although the fruits themselves already take care of that part."

Lady Penelope giggled happily and said,

"I guess so but I can tell that you made a lot of special effort to make this salad come out as good as possible."

Lycoris smiled and trying to support Matthew, she replied, "That's only natural, right? Matt must have wanted to impress us and make us a delicious snack."

Matthew nodded quickly, grateful for Lycoris' reply, and said,

"That's right.  I rarely get a chance to make food for others so I wanted to put in all the effort I could into making this snack delicious."

Lady Penelope giggled and replied, "Okay then. I believe you."

She was soon all done with her fruit salad and juice and after putting down the bowl and glass, she said,

"Thanks for the salad, Matt. It was really delicious."

Matthew smiled softly and replied, "I'm glad you liked it, my lady."

He soon finished his fruit salad and juice as well and asked, "Did everyone else like it, too?"

(Getting sleepy here so I'll get off for the night and go to sleep.  I'll check back tomorrow and post again.  Nite, nite, Love.  ^^)

Lycoris was soon also all done with her fruit salad and juice and said, "I loved it. It was very delicious and fresh."

The chancellor commented with a smile, "Indeed. Thank you for the effort and time. It was a refreshing snack."

Matthew nodded kindly and replied, "You're welcome.  I'm glad everyone liked it."

The head chef then said, "We can take care of the clean up, sir.  You should tend to your guests."

Matthew replied, "Thanks."  He then turned to the others and asked, "So how shall we spend the rest of the afternoon?"

Lady Penelope looked thoughtful then looking apologetically at everyone, she said,

"I should excuse myself. I'd like to visit my daughter in her room and keep her company for a bit. We'll see you all at dinner?"

She glanced at the chancellor with a meaningful look, as she wanted to leave Lycoris and Matthew by themselves for a while.

Matthew nodded and replied, "Of course, my lady.  Please tell your daughter that I say thank you for getting the ingredients for the elixir."

He was unaware that Lady Penelope's plan was to leave him and Lycoris alone.

(I need to clean up around here and check on a few things but I'll post again as soon as I can.  ^^)

Lady Penelope nodded happily and said, "Of course. Please excuse me."

She curtseyed then took her leave. The chancellor said, "I'll excuse myself as well. I would like to check on the library here, if it's okay. I am curious to see what kind of books you have here and all."

Matthew nodded and replied, "Of course, sir.  Everything here is at your disposal.  Dad might be in there, too, so I'm sure he'd love the company."

The chancellor nodded and smiling, he said, "Okay then. Please excuse me."

He bowed respectfully then took his leave. Lycoris smiled a bit and said, "It looks like we're by ourselves now."

Matthew nodded and replied, "Yup, looks like it.  So then I'll ask you how you wish for us to spend the rest of the afternoon?"

He looked on happily and curiously at Lycoris.

Lycoris looked thoughtful then smiling curiously, she asked,

"Well, let me ask this first. How do you usually spend your afternoons when you are by yourself?"

Matthew looked thoughtful and replied, "Well, either I like to be in the gardens or read a good book or practice the piano.  I'm not anywhere as talented as Bryan but I love getting to play.  It helps me to relax."
