Megan nodded and replied, "Yup! This is a lot better than the swimming pool."

Stacey replied, "I agree. This ocean feels so cool and is so beautiful."

Alex sighed sadly and replied, "More likely, I must have upset her. But the only thing I remember doing this morning was talk to you about staying here to learn magic and..."

He thought about the rest of the events and then realized that perhaps Nerine might have gotten upset because he hugged Lycoris.

William replied happily, "And it's natural, so it's all the better."

They continued splashing each other happily and swimming around freely.

Lycoris recalled the events along with Alex and remembered the same thing he did. She replied,

"And then you hugged me in front of Nerine. That must have hurt her. And you going up to talk to me alone in my room, too-it must have aroused her suspicions and she might have thought you broke your promise."

As the family continued to swim and splash happily in the water, Megan looked to William and asked,

"Do you know a lot of different swim strokes, William?"

Alex nodded and replied, "Yeah, that must have been it. I didn't mean to upset her. I was worried about you and wanted to make sure that you'd be safe. I don't know if Nerine understands that. It didn't immediately mean that I was abandoning her."

William shook his head and replied, "I am a decent swimmer but I can't do the very complicated stuff, though I can swim in harder water conditions. What about you, little pretty?"

Lycoris nodded and replied, "I understand but you know how sensitive Nerine is for these few days. She gets hurt very easily and she can take things for larger than they really are. You didn't really fix things with her completely either."

Megan replied, "I can do the basic swimming strokes and the backstroke and the butterfly. Do you want to see?"

Alex sighed and replied, "You're right but how can I fix this? I tried talking to Nerine, spending time with her, but it's like I'm not doing something right."

He put his hands on his head and shook his head in silent frustration.

William nodded happily and replied, "Sure, I'd love to see."

He waited for Megan to show him what she can do.

Although Lycoris couldn't see Alex, she could feel the frustration in his voice and reaching out to touch his hand gently in comfort, she replied kindly,

"You need to be patient, Alex. We both inflicted hurt on Nerine and caused her pain, in a time when she needed love and care. This all won't be fixed in a day or two, not even a week. Nerine may have lost trust in us, Alex, and trust isn't something that can be fixed so easily. If you love her truly, you have to be patient with her."

Megan then showed William the backstroke and then proceeded to do the butterfly. Stacey watched from a nearby distance and was impressed with how well Megan could swim.

Alex looked to Lycoris and giving her a small smile, he replied,

"You're right. I need to give it time. Is there anything else I can do to gain back her trust? I've been spending time with her and I even tried to talk to her alone once to talk about the problems we've had but it seems like I'm not doing things right."

William watched as well and quite liked what he saw. After Megan was done, he clapped happily and said,

"That was great, Megan. You swim like a pro."

Lycoris looked thoughtful then replied,

"Prove to her that you do love her. I don't know but sometimes I get the feeling she doubts that. You need to show her how great your love is."

Stacey added, "Yup, William is right. You must have practiced a lot to be a great swimmer."

Megan blushed and replied, "Aww thanks. I guess those swimming lessons were worth it."

Stacey turned to William and said, "Back at the orphanage, in the summers, the children would go to the swimming pool and get free lessons."

Alex looked confused and replied, "How do I do that? That's what I thought I was doing, spending time with her, talking to her...but it seems like that's not enough."

William nodded in understanding and replied, "I see. It is a fun activity and it is sure a worthwhile effort. Swimming is a very useful thing to learn."

Lycoris replied, "Anyone can do that, Alex. A friend can spend time with you and talk to you. I am not sure but...maybe show her that she's your first priority and not me? That you love her more and she has a greater place in your heart. Only certain situations can show that, I guess. Today's one was one of them but you didn't do well there."

Megan nodded and replied, "Yup and I learned that swimming can be useful for saving people drowning in the water."

Stacey added, "That's right. If you want swimming lessons, handsome, free ones are offered at the local swimming pool back in Lessire. We'd have to check for days and times available but that wouldn't be a problem."

Alex replied, "Yeah, you're right but...I didn't like how Nerine replied to Bryan's question. It sounded mean to me and I saw how hurt you looked and I couldn't take it. No matter how angry I was at someone, I don't think I could react like that."

William pouted and jokingly replied, "Aww you think I need lessons, pretty? What, my swimming isn't decent enough for you?"

Lycoris smiled sadly as she remembered Nerine's comment and indeed, she was hurt by it. Nevertheless, she replied,

"Alex, Nerine never liked me and I don't know if she ever will but her reply was honest, at least. She spoke her mind. But I don't want how Nerine feels towards me to affect your relationship with her. It shouldn't make you love her any less. Nerine isn't a mean person but when it comes to me, it's really complicated."

Stacey giggled and batting her eyelashes flirtatiously at William, she replied,

"Aww that's not what I meant, handsome. What I meant was that if you had swimming lessons and you could swim really well, you could be my hero and save me if I have trouble in the water."

Megan giggled and replied, "I like that idea!"

Alex replied, "I guess so. I know Nerine isn't a mean person by heart and I'm sure that some of her reactions are because of my actions. I guess I need to be more attentive to her and put her first, right? But I don't want to ignore you completely to do so."

William chuckled happily and swimming to Stacey's side, he wrapped his arms around her waist and lovingly replied,

"I could save you anyways and anytime, my pretty. I told you I can swim in harder water conditions. I practiced doing that."

Lycoris replied,

"You don't have to ignore me but treat me as your sister. That's what you said you'd do, right? In any case, just put her first. Pay a lot of attention to her. Pay attention to her feelings and such. Don't worry about me, ok? Nerine needs a lot more care than I do."

Stacey wrapped her arms lovingly around William's neck and happily replied,

"I'm glad to hear that, handsome. You'll always be my strong, handsome hero."

Megan added, "Me, too!"

Alex thought over Lycoris' words and finally replied, "You're right. Nerine is in a fragile state right now and I need to attend to her. And you're all right with Avi by your side, right? Promise me that you'll lean on him if you need anything, ok? You don't have to face things alone."

William grinned happily and replied, "I am honored to be your hero and I'll be always here to protect you, no matter what."

Lycoris sighed but smiling, she replied,

"If it makes you happy, I will. Avi is a trustworthy person and a great friend. He helps me whenever I need. You don't worry about me, ok?"

Stacey gave William a quick loving kiss on the lips and then Megan reached up to kiss William on both of his cheeks. Then Stacey said,

"We won't settle for any other hero but you."

Megan replied, "Yup. William's our one and only hero!"

Alex nodded and giving Lycoris a smile, he replied, "Ok. For you, I promise not to worry about you and I'll do my best to repair things with Nerine."

They continued to walk in the gardens and then he tentatively said,

"I guess I should go to her and start to work things out with her again, right?"

William returned both of the ladies' kisses and replied happily,

"And I don't want to have to save or protect any other woman but you two either but if anyone needs help, I can save them, right? We wouldn't want anyone hurt now if we could help?"

Lycoris nodded and smiling encouragingly to Alex, she replied,

"Go ahead. Show her your love and I am sure that you two will be better than ever before you even know it. Go on."

Stacey nodded seriously and replied, "Of course, handsome. If there were someone truly in danger, the best thing is to save them right away."

Megan replied, "Stacey's right. A hero does that and you're our hero."

Alex gave Lycoris a quick gentle hug and replied,

"Thank you, Lycoris. You truly are the best. I hope that Nerine will know that as well someday."

He gave Lycoris a smile and then ran back into the castle to find Nerine.

William smiled and replied, "I knew that, pretties. Just making sure you might not get jealous or something."

He winked at them jokingly.

Back in Nerine's and Alex's room, Nerine had woken up a while ago and had changed her clothes. She wore now a white strap dress, one that was more beautiful than what she wore earlier.

She also changed her hair style, wrapping it with a black ribbon in exactly the same fashion Lycoris wore it. But for her eye color and the strange dangerous look in her eyes, she would have been Lycoris.

Stacey and Megan giggled and Stacey replied slyly, "Ahh I see. So if some man were to come and save either me or Megan from real danger, you wouldn't get jealous, right?"

(Nerine took Bryan's suggestion literally. O.O)

Alex arrived back inside their room and quietly, he opened the door, expecting Nerine to be asleep. However, he was surprised when he entered and saw that Nerine was already awake. But even more still, he noticed that Nerine had changed clothes and wore her hair differently now. Giving her a tentative smile, Alex asked,

"How are you feeling, darling?"

(It's getting late here so I should get off for the night now and get some sleep. I'll check back tomorrow and post again. Nite, nite, Love. ^^)

(Nite, nite, phoenix and sorry again for the sudden disappearance. It's that electricity cutting on a daily basis now. Stupid government. <,< So sorry about that. ^^)

William pouted for a moment then smiling, he replied,

"Well, though I'd prefer if I save my pretties, if that man were to really save you from real danger, I'd be eternally grateful to him, not jealous. I wouldn't want my pretties hurt ever."

Nerine took a deep breath before turning around to face Alex and giving him a wide, happy grin, she replied cheerfully,

"Hey, Alex. I am feeling great now. I took a little nap and it was all that I needed. I was about to come down but since you're here, we could go down together."

(O.O I see. And it's ok-no worries. ^^)

Stacey and Megan hugged William happily and Stacey replied, "Good but we'll do our best not to be in danger."

Megan replied, "That's right and you do the same, William. We don't want some random woman to come to your rescue."

Alex nodded slowly, feeling as though something were off with Nerine although he couldn't figure out what exactly. He asked,

"Are you sure you'd like to meet with the others? They're still in the gardens and I know you're allergic to roses although we could just avoid them."

William laughed happily and replied, "Don't worry, pretty. I'll do my best to stay out of danger always and you know how strong I am, right? I can rescue myself alright."

Nerine nodded, looking all cheerful and happy and replied,

"Yup! And we can avoid the roses although if you want, I can take in my allergies for you. I know how much you love roses and I wouldn't want my dear Alex to prevent himself from what he likes for me. Plus, roses are pretty too!"

She approached him and holding his arm gently, she continued, "So shall we go?"

Megan grinned and replied, "That's right! Our William is so strong."

Stacey nodded and replied, "Yup. William is the strongest man ever."

Alex nodded although he was still unsure of what to make of Nerine's changed attitude. He replied,

"Ok, let's go then."

He led the way downstairs but was pretty quiet, trying to figure out what was going on.
