Alex smiled and replied, "And I have the most loving, kindest wife ever."

He gently touched Lycoris' hand and added, "I'll always love being with you."

Matthew waited while Anjela took care of the clean up.  After everything that happened earlier, all he wanted was to rest and not worry about more danger.

***************

Helena smiled and replied, "It was wonderful, my Nathan.  I always enjoy your kisses.  My husband sure is the best."

She wrapped her arms around Nathan's waist, cuddling close to him.

Lycoris blushed and smiling softly, she replied, "You know, sometimes I can't help but wonder why you love me so. I mean, I am really troublesome all the time and there isn't much I can do for you in return. But yet you love me so much and I have no doubt about that. I really am the luckiest woman ever."

Anjela soon returned, having washed the plates and cleaned them up. She put them away and taking a seat on her sleeping bag, she took a breath, she said, 

"Another day is finally over. We're making steady progress at least and we're still in one piece."

Nathan held Helena close to him and looking lovingly at her, he said, "Well, when I have the best, I have to keep up, you know."

He kissed her on the forehead and said, "Good night, my beautiful wife. I'll see you in the morning."

Alex happily replied, "And I truly am the luckiest man, ever.  You'll only ever receive my undying love, affection, warmth, kindness.  You are my most precious treasure, Lycoris."

Matthew nodded and replied, "Yup, that's true.  Today sure was trying but the important thing is that we made it.  I have to admit that I'm definitely not a fan of that cave, though."

He smiled a bit ruefully.

Helena happily replied, "Good night, my Nathan.  See you in the morning."

She closed her eyes, a happy, peaceful smile on her face, soon falling asleep.

Lycoris blushed a little deeper and cuddled a bit closer to Alex. She replied, "And you're my most wonderful and precious treasure. I love you so, so, very much, Alex. I will never get tired of saying it."

Anjela sighed and nodding, she replied, "Me neither. I don't recall it was that bad before. At least we made it through."

She looked lost in thought for a moment but quickly turned her attention again to Matthew.

(I guess we'll leave Nathan and Helena for a while until they wake up or something. XD)

(Yup, that's cool.  XD)

Alex hugged Lycoris close to him and without saying a word, he leaned in for a sweet, loving kiss, wanting Lycoris to know just how much he loved and adored her.

Matthew replied, "Yeah, but you seemed to hold up better in that cave than I did.  As soon as I saw what looked like mom, I just fell apart."

He looked sad and ashamed over the memory.

Lycoris returned the kiss ever so lovingly, pouring all her love and passion into it. She loved Alex so very much and felt safe and secure with him no matter how things were. As long as she had him, she would go through anything.

Anjela reached out to touch Matthew's hand and gently said, "Hey, don't feel bad about it. I don't know what I would have done if I had seen an image of Dimitri reaching out to me. You know, even that voice at the end-it's still stuck in my head."

She sighed then wanting to lighten the mood a bit, she smirked a bit at him and teasingly said, "Heh, I'll definitely punish you for raising your sword at me sometime though. Now that was a no-no."

Alex continued to kiss Lycoris for a few more, sweet loving moments and once the kiss ended, he said,

"I'll always love kissing you, my angel."

He looked at the book nearby and chuckling a bit, he added, "We got so preoccupied that I totally forgot about reading to you.  I'm sorry about that."

Matthew scratched the back of his head and replied, "Heh, sorry about that.  But you know I just totally lost it back there.  That cave sure messes with one's mind."

Lycoris giggled a little and replied, "Hey, it's okay. As long as I get to be in your company, I am enjoying myself."

She yawned a little and blushing in embarrassment, she said, "Umm reading might have to wait though. Guess I am feeling a bit sleepy and if you read to me, I'll end up falling asleep on you again."

Anjela smiled comfortingly and replied, "Don't worry about it. I know how that feels. I am glad you snapped out of it eventually and we made it out of that cave."

Alex chuckled and replied, "Awww I wouldn't mind that at all but you're right.  We can leave reading for another time.  Do you want to head upstairs and get ready for bed?"

Matthew nodded and replied, "Yup, that's the important thing.  And you ok as well?  If you want to talk about anything that happened there, I'll be happy to lend an ear."

Lycoris nodded and smiling, she said, "Yeah, that sounds good. We had a very fun day and I am looking forward to tomorrow. I mean, we haven't planned anything special yet but I look forward to any day with you."

Anjela didn't say anything for a moment and her eyes showed that there was a lot she was holding inside. But in the end, she smiled a bit and said, 

"Nothing to talk about. There was nothing new there I didn't tell you of before. Well, save for the last memory but I don't really like talking about that. So yeah, I am fine. Don't worry."

Alex nodded happily and replied, "Same here, my angel.  We'll figure out what to do in the morning but for now, it's time for us to get ready to sleep."

He got up and after helping Lycoris to her feet, he escorted her out of the living room and upstairs to their room.

Matthew nodded and replied, "Ok."

Thinking of something, he then said, "This witch-I'm wondering.  When we make it to her, can she grant a wish to each of us?"

Lycoris followed Alex upstairs to their room and once there, she said, 

"Do you want to get ready first, Alex? I'll wait for you."

Anjela furrowed her eyebrows and replied, "Well, she granted me a wish before so I don't know if I can ask for a second but why do you ask? It's not like we're here to grant ourselves anything unless there is something you want?"

She looked a bit curiously at Matthew.

Alex nodded and replied, "Sure.  I'll be quick and then you can get ready for bed."

He gave Lycoris a quick kiss on the lips and after getting his pajamas, he went into the bathroom to wash up and get ready for bed.

Matthew replied, "I know but I was wondering how this witch operates."

Inwardly, he hoped that the witch would grant more than one request, as he had one for Anjela, although he didn't want to tell her what it was.

Lycoris waited for Alex meanwhile, taking a seat on the bed while he got ready for the night.

Although Anjela was still curious about Matthew's question, she thought it might have been just a question for knowledge so she didn't think too much about it. She nodded and said, 

"Well, alright. We should get some sleep then. We'll have another long day tomorrow and I can tell you what I remember of what's next in the morning."

Alex quickly washed up and changed into his pajamas.  Once he was done, he left the bathroom and put away his clothes.  Then he took out a clean nightgown for Lycoris and approaching her, he said,

"I'm all done.  I'll escort you to the bathroom and hand you your nightgown so you can wash up, too, my angel."

Matthew nodded and replied, "Sounds good to me.  We both could use the rest."

He smiled a bit at Anjela and climbed into his sleeping bag, ready to get some sleep.

Lycoris smiled at Alex and nodding, she said, "Okay. I won't take long too."

She followed Alex to the bathroom and there, she took her nightgown from him then closed the door after her so she could wash up and change.

Anjela smiled a bit back at Matthew then climbed into her sleeping bag as well. She said, "Good night, Matt. See you in the morning."

She covered herself up and got ready to get some sleep although it was somewhat difficult, as there was something she couldn't help still on her mind.

Alex sat on the bed meanwhile, waiting for Lycoris to wash up and change so that they could fall asleep in each other's arms.

Matthew replied, "Good night, Anjela."

He looked at her and could tell that something was still on her mind although he decided not to press her on it, hoping that she would talk to him if it troubled her that much.

Lycoris soon finished washing up and changed out of her clothes and into the clean nightgown. She undid her hair and let it flow down her shoulders then once she was all finished, she opened the door a little bit and called out, "I am done, Alex."

After a little time had passed, Anjela still hadn't fallen asleep. She couldn't. That voice she heard at the end of the cave was still lingering in her mind-it was so tempting, so captivating to her as it touched her softest spot. 

Unable to help it, she quietly looked at Matthew and hoping he had fallen asleep, she quietly got out of her sleeping bag and slowly walked back to the cave. Although her mind kept telling her that what she was doing was absurd, that she should stop and go back right away, she just couldn't help it.

Alex heard Lycoris call out to him and getting up, he approached her and said, "You look beautiful and all ready to sleep, my angel."

He took her clothes and put them away.  Then he escorted Lycoris to their bed and helped her to climb in, ready for a good night's sleep.

Matthew hadn't fallen into deep sleep yet, so when he heard Anjela stirring, he opened his eyes a bit and saw where she was heading.  Frowning, he quietly followed her.

Lycoris climbed into bed by Alex's side and cuddled happily close to him. She smiled softly and said, 

"You know, your arms are where I always feel the safest and happiest."

Anjela didn't hear Matthew behind her and she continued to slowly walk towards the cave. She had made it at the entrance but she stopped, as though she was trying to stop herself from going forward. She was walking herself back to a trap. She knew that. It would be absolutely stupid to walk back there again. She knew that too. 

But she would make it quick. She would just check that voice and go back right away. 

She gritted her teeth and tentatively walked into the cave.

Alex blushed and replied, "I love wrapping my arms around you and falling asleep with you like this.  My beautiful, wonderful wife, here beside me to fall asleep and wake up next to first thing in the morning."

Matthew sighed inwardly, hoping that Anjela would have had more common sense than to reenter the cave.  He quietly followed her, guessing her goal.

Lycoris blushed deeply and nuzzling her face against Alex's chest, she shyly replied, 

"You say such wonderful things, Alex. It's like a true angel is talking to me, you know. I really love you so and I am happy to have that honor of sleeping and waking up in your arms everyday. I don't think I can sleep otherwise now."

Anjela ventured into the cave, walking quietly and tenatively until she made it to the spot where the voice had shown up. 

But there was nothing.

She couldn't hear anything. She waited and looked around but the voice wouldn't come back again. It was how things worked; a challenge passed is done, and it won't show up again in the same journey. But she didn't know that and desperately looked around, just wanting to hear that word again and see the source of the voice.

She shakily murmured, "Come on, where are you. I am here. Where are you..."

Alex blushed and replied, "Awww you're the one who's an angel, my Lycoris.  How can I be so incredibly lucky to be your husband and to be with you forever?  I'll never know but I'm thankful for you always."

Matthew felt saddened as he heard Anjela call out and his suspicions were right.  Anjela had hoped the voice would return.  He decided to approach her and said,

"Anjela, that voice won't come back."

Lycoris blushed even deeper but smiling softly, she said, "We're really lucky to have each other, right? I am so happy when I am with you, Alex. So happy."

She cuddled even a bit closer, letting his warmth engulf her.

Anjela was startled as she heard Matthew's voice and turned to face him. But hearing what he said, she shook her head and quietly said, "It will come back. There was someone here, wasn't there? Maybe I just need to wait a bit longer..."

She looked around again with a longing look, desperation taking over her.

Alex happily replied, "And I'm so happy when I'm with you, my Lycoris.  We truly are the luckiest people ever."

He leaned in to give Lycoris a sweet, loving good night kiss.

Matthew replied, "It was most likely a test, like how seeing the image of my mother was a test.  But you were stronger than me and didn't give into the temptation of that voice."
