Seeing as how we don't have a set of rules for the site in general (with the exception of the spam rule and the RP rules-please make sure to adhere to them), I thought it was time that we have a couple of rules here. More will be added later on as time or circumstances allow but since there have been a couple of serious issues addressed here, it's time to make some policies very clear.
Although here at SFG, we welcome and encourage different opinions and allow for suggestions on how to improve the site, there is something that we will NOT tolerate. We do not tolerate any rude, offensive remarks towards any member of this site, whether he/she be a regular member, guild member, or a moderator or administrator.
There is a reason that I bring this issue up. Although most members here have been very good to be respectful to everyone here and keep the atmosphere at SFG nice and friendly, a couple of members have made rude, offensive attacks towards the administration. Now I will make this very clear: The administration does NOT and never has shown favoritism or hatred towards certain members of this site. We do our best to remain as neutral as possible and treat all members equally. Now if there is a member's behavior that we do not like, such as spamming, of course, we will address that member about it BUT that does not mean that we do not like that member. We understand that members here aren't perfect and make mistakes but that does not give anyone the right to start attacking others.
Thus, this behavior will never be tolerated here and due punishments will be enacted for such behavior. As you all can see on your posts, there is a warning meter. Please pay attention to it, as it will indicate if and when you have committed an offense on this forum.
If any member here feels that someone on this forum has made a rude, offensive attack towards him/her, please do the following:
1. If the offense happened in a thread, please send a PM to either a moderator or administrator and copy and paste the link to the thread with the offense and the offender. Also, it would be very helpful if you can explain why you believe the offense was made against you and to explain the nature of the offense.
2. If the offense happened via PM, please take a screenshot of it and then send the link via PM again either to a moderator or administrator along with an explanation.
Now depending on how great the offense is, the following will be done:
1. For a first time offense, a warning will be given either by PM or in the thread where the offense occurred to the offender along with the warning bar adjusted accordingly for the offense.
2. For a second offense, another warning given along with discussion among the mods and administration for what to do if the offense by the same offender continues.
3. For a third offense, most likely, there will be no choice but to ban the offender for a week or two, depending on how great the offense will be.
4. Hopefully, there won't be more offenses after that but if there are, then discussion among the mods and admin will take place on how to take care of such an offender and due punishment will be administered.
Now why the above, one may ask? The answer is very simple. Although such offensive, hurtful behavior may be tolerated on other sites, we do not tolerate this kind of behavior EVER. We respect the feelings of all members on this site and hope that everyone else here can do the same. And although the mods and admin can simply delete, edit, lock threads when they get out of hand, offenders must understand that such hurtful behavior won't be allowed here, as we wish for SFG to remain a friendly, welcoming place where different views are allowed but expressed in a respectful, nonoffensive manner.
