| This is just a copy and paste job from a thread I created in another forum, it is a subject I am very interested in but didn't really get any good discussion the first time.
I have always been interested in games as an emotional platform. Playing a game doesn't just have to induce fun, it can bring any emotion it chooses to. What I want to know about is games that made you cry, whether from happiness or sadness or whatever (not boredom).
The following are games that I can think of which managed this with me:
Ouendan: the sad song.
Elite Beat Agents: the sad song.
Elite Beat Agents: The song where the parent is trying to make it sunny for her child.
Professor Layton: The ending. I still don't know why or how it managed but I did.
Final Fantasy X: The scene after the credits, it just felt so very sad.
Shadow of the Collosus: Everytime I kill a monster in the game ... I can't help but feel I have done something very wrong.
That's all that I can think of right now. So anyone else have such experiences? I would love to know how to tell a story which can have such an emotional impact. Though my current game won't be trying to cause anyone to cry, I still would like to make you feel something. | |

| Haven't played Ouendan yet, so I can't say. But yeah, the EBA sad song got EVERYONE. You could give the DS to a robot, and it would somehow cry.
And mother 3 | |

| I made the bad mistake of playing the sad song for the first time on public transport. I must of looked crazy or something, tears streaming down my face but I was concentrating heavily on the game ... I beat the song but I couldn't go to the next track since the screen needed drying. | |

| I think the bit with the parrot in MGS 2, just after Otacon's sister died, is sad ^^; "Hal...I miss you" x3 | |

| Games that made me cry? I do not think there was a game that made me cry. XD But Fantasy On Mother's Day's last scene was really affecting, I really liked it. So cool | |
